I saw that some of God’sprofessed people are like <strong>the</strong> man who hid his talent in <strong>the</strong> earth. They keep <strong>the</strong>irpossessions from doing good in <strong>the</strong> cause of God. They claim that <strong>the</strong>se are <strong>the</strong>irown, and that <strong>the</strong>y have a right to do what <strong>the</strong>y please with <strong>the</strong>ir own; and souls arenot saved by judicious ef<strong>for</strong>ts made by <strong>the</strong>m with <strong>the</strong>ir Lord’s money. Angels keep afaithful record of every man’s work, and as judgment passes upon <strong>the</strong> house of God, <strong>the</strong>sentence of each is recorded by his name, and <strong>the</strong> angel is commissioned to spare not<strong>the</strong> unfaithful servants, but to cut <strong>the</strong>m down at <strong>the</strong> time of slaughter. And that whichwas committed to <strong>the</strong>ir trust is taken from <strong>the</strong>m. Their earthly treasure is <strong>the</strong>n sweptaway, and <strong>the</strong>y have lost all. And <strong>the</strong> crowns <strong>the</strong>y might have worn, had <strong>the</strong>y beenfaithful, are put upon <strong>the</strong> heads of those saved by <strong>the</strong> faithful servants whose meanswas constantly in use <strong>for</strong> God. And everyone <strong>the</strong>y have been <strong>the</strong> means of saving, addsstars to <strong>the</strong>ir crown in glory, and increases <strong>the</strong>ir eternal reward.I was also shown that <strong>the</strong> parable of <strong>the</strong> unjust steward was to teach us a lesson.“Make to yourselves friends of <strong>the</strong> mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail,<strong>the</strong>y may receive you into everlasting habitations.” If we use our means to God’s gloryhere, we lay up a treasure in heaven; and when earthly possessions are all gone, <strong>the</strong>faithful steward has Jesus and angels <strong>for</strong> his friends, to receive him home to everlastinghabitations.“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.” He that is faithfulin his earthly possessions, which are least, making a judicious use of what God has lenthim here, will be true to his profession. “He that is unjust in <strong>the</strong> least is unjust also inmuch.” He that will withhold from God that which He has lent him, will be unfaithfulin <strong>the</strong> things of God in every respect. “If <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e198
