If <strong>the</strong>re are those who still have a reserve <strong>for</strong>ce and can be taxedwithout injury to <strong>the</strong>mselves, <strong>the</strong>re is important work <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m to do, and it has but justcommenced when <strong>the</strong>y have spoken <strong>the</strong> truth to <strong>the</strong> people. Then come <strong>the</strong> exemplarypreaching, <strong>the</strong> watchful care, <strong>the</strong> seeking to do good to o<strong>the</strong>rs, <strong>the</strong> conversation, andvisiting at <strong>the</strong> fireside from house to house, entering into <strong>the</strong> condition of mind and<strong>the</strong> spiritual state of those who listened to <strong>the</strong> discourse from <strong>the</strong>ir lips; exhorting thisone, reproving that one, rebuking ano<strong>the</strong>r, and com<strong>for</strong>ting <strong>the</strong> afflicted, suffering, anddesponding. The mind should be as free from weariness as possible that <strong>the</strong>y may beminutemen, “instant in season, out of season.” They should obey <strong>the</strong> injunction givenby Paul to Timothy: “Meditate upon <strong>the</strong>se things; give thyself wholly to <strong>the</strong>m.”The responsibility of <strong>the</strong> work rests very lightly upon some. They feel that after<strong>the</strong>y leave <strong>the</strong> desk <strong>the</strong>ir work is done. It is a burden to visit, a burden to talk; and<strong>the</strong> people who are really desirous of getting all <strong>the</strong> good <strong>the</strong>re is <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m, and whowish to hear and learn that <strong>the</strong>y may see all things clearly, are not benefited andsatisfied. Ministers excuse <strong>the</strong>mselves because <strong>the</strong>y are weary, and yet some exhaust<strong>the</strong>ir precious strength and spend <strong>the</strong>ir time in work which ano<strong>the</strong>r could do just aswell as <strong>the</strong>y. They should preserve moral and physical vigor that as faithful workmenof God <strong>the</strong>y may give full proof of <strong>the</strong>ir ministry.In every important place <strong>the</strong>re should be a depository <strong>for</strong> publications. Andsomeone who really appreciates <strong>the</strong> truth should manifest an interest to get <strong>the</strong>se booksinto <strong>the</strong> hands of all who will read. The harvest is great, but <strong>the</strong> laborers are few, and<strong>the</strong> few experienced laborers now in <strong>the</strong> field have all <strong>the</strong>y should do to labor in wordand doctrine. Men will arise who claim that God has laid upon <strong>the</strong>m <strong>the</strong> burden ofteaching <strong>the</strong> truth to o<strong>the</strong>rs. All such should be proved and473
