Read to find out the answers to these questions.• What would the thieves do to anyone who tried to capture them?• Why did Stanley yell? What did he yell?• What happened to the thieves?• What happened at the end of the chapter?PREP NOTESetting a PurposeWrite questions on achalkboard, white board,or large piece of paperbefore working with yoursmall group.3. Reading on Your Own: Partner or Whisper Reading• Have students take turns reading every other page with a partner orhave students whisper read pages 49–53 on their own.Everyone, look at page 49.
