and performance. on development, personal contributions and outreach
records are taken into account. 53 re-nomination by the Board is not automatic.
Periodic Board review includes trustee surveys and comparisons.
these reviews are indispensable even though peer review is not easy -
or always pleasant - to implement - let alone among volunteers. In addition,
academia has its own personality and rhythms and is not a business.
nonetheless, performance is essential; and meaningful and systematic review
starts at the top.
While the committee has every reason to believe - based on practices
and performance of many other institutions with which it is familiar - that
anatolia has an effective Board, it looks to continuous improvement. that
sets the stage and the standard for the whole organization within the scope
of applicable regulations.
regulatory authorities
the trustees function under the general authority of the Massachusetts attorney
General who is responsible for enforcing state law. 54 that includes
fiduciary obligations, which is the general body of law that regulates the
conduct of the trustees. Moreover, the non-profit tax aspects of the corporation
are regulated by the Irs under the Internal revenue code and
regulations. 55 furthermore, the Massachusetts and the federal courts have
jurisdiction.
the educational operations in Greece fall under the jurisdiction of the
education Ministry which considers anatolia a foreign private school. the
somatia, comprised of anatolia college trustees, hold the act and elementary
school licenses and are also supervised by the education Ministry.
the finance Ministry regulates tax obligations. In addition, the Greek
courts have jurisdiction. More recently, eu authority is becoming more
noticeable.
