as was acting President dr. Panos vlachos. the author aimed at a broad coverage<br />

or treatment of the subject extending from boiler plate to specialized law in order<br />

to anticipate widely varying audience backgrounds. hopefully, not everything will<br />

be “old news” to everyone.<br />

12. the President serves as the lead administrator of anatolia’s three educational<br />

divisions: anatolia high school (including the International Baccalaureate or IB<br />

Program), anatolia elementary school, and the american college of thessaloniki<br />

or act.<br />

anatolia’s 10 th President was dr. hans Giesecke. he was appointed in august<br />

2009 and served through July 2012. at the present, dr. Panos vlachos is the acting<br />

President. Prior to this appointment dr. vlachos was vice President for academic<br />

affairs of anatolia college and Provost of act having served the Institution for<br />

20 years in leadership positions as a teacher and administrator. he holds a B.s. in<br />

Mathematics from the aristotle university of thessaloniki and an M.sc. in Mathematics<br />

and a Ph.d. in applied Mathematical sciences from the university of<br />

rhode Island.<br />

13. Yiannis tsorbatzoglou (’86), vP administration, assisted in reviewing the<br />

Institution’s community organizations. the membership associations of thessaloniki<br />

alumni (ΣΑΑΚ), friends, and Parents (for each of the schools and the high<br />

school’s divisions), as well as the athens alumni are independent legal entities<br />

(somatia). nonetheless, they are very much part of the life of the Institution. their<br />

activities are reported in ΣΑaΚ’s quarterly <strong>Anatolia</strong> Alumnus journal.<br />
