From a European perspective, the highlight of the Detroit Auto Show 2<strong>01</strong>6 in January was most certainly the unveiling of the new E-Class. According to media reports, Mercedes invested<br />
nearly a billion euros in developing the W213. The exterior in line with the new Mercedes design impresses with sharper lines, the interior of the E-Class boasts tasteful elegance and a<br />
number of technological advances: Touch control panels on the steering wheel and voice control, optional digital cockpit with two 12.3-inch screens and a whole range of new assistance<br />
systems – from Drive Pilot for semi-autonomous driving to Brake Assist, which automatically prevents collisions, through to an app for communicating current traffic conditions.<br />

Der erste SUV – oder Performance-Crossover, wie die Briten sagen – aus dem<br />
Hause Jaguar überzeugt. Nicht nur weil sich der Jaguar F-Pace bei der spektakulären<br />
Weltpremiere im Herbst auf der IAA mit dem Titel „Größter jemals mit einem<br />
Auto durchfahrener Looping“ ins Guinness-Buch der Rekorde eingeschrieben hat.<br />
Dynamik, Motorisierung (der V6 Benziner bringt 380 PS auf die Straße), Design,<br />
intelligente Assistenzsysteme für den Abstecher abseits der Straße - hier passt<br />
alles zusammen. Ein nobler Brite eben.<br />
The first SUV – or Performance Crossover, as the Brits call it – from Jaguar is<br />
impressive. Not only because the spectacular world premiere of the Jaguar F-Pace<br />
at the IAA in autumn set a Guinness World Record by being driven on the largest<br />
ever loop-the-loop. Dynamism, motorisation (the V6 petrol engine is capable of up<br />
to 380 HP), design, intelligent assistance systems for off-road trips – everything<br />
comes together perfectly. A noble Brit indeed.<br />

Der neue BMW M2 ist nicht für die gemütliche Sonntagsfahrt ausgelegt. Ein Turbo<br />
Reihen-Sechszylinder mit 370 PS und das speziell für die hochtourigen M Motoren<br />
zugeschnittene Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, das Schalten ohne Kupplungspedal bei<br />
Vollgas und durchgehender Kraftübertragung ermöglicht, sprechen eine klare<br />
Sprache. 4,3 Sekunden benötigt der bayerische Bolide auf 100 km/h, die<br />
(abgeregelte) Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei 270 km/h. Auch optisch sieht man<br />
dem M2 mit seinen großen Lufteinlässen, Vierrohrauspuff, weit ausgestellten<br />
Radhäusern und 19-Zoll-Felgen den Fahrspaß an.<br />
The new BMW M2 has not been designed for leisurely Sunday drives. A Turbo<br />
inline six-cylinder engine with 370 HP and a double clutch transmission especially<br />
made for the high-rev M engines, which enable gear changes at full throttle<br />
without using the clutch pedal and a continuous power transfer, speak for<br />
themselves. This Bavarian fireball can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3<br />
seconds, the (electronically limited) top speed is 270 km/h. The exterior of the<br />
M2 also reveals the expected driving pleasure, with its large air intakes, four<br />
tailpipes, prominent wheel arches and 19-inch rims.<br />
