The Titanic Sinks<br />
The world-famous luxury steamship,<br />
Titanic, met its catastrophic end in<br />
the icy waters off Newfoundland in<br />
1912. Carrying 2,224 people on<br />
board, the ship sank at 2.27am after<br />
striking an iceberg just before<br />
midnight. More than 1,500 lives were<br />
lost while 700 were rescued by the<br />
liner Carpathia which arrived about<br />
two hours after Titanic submerged.<br />
In the decades since her demise,<br />
Titanic has been the source of<br />
inspiration for countless books and<br />
several notable films such as ‘Titanic’<br />
and continued to make headlines<br />
till the present days.<br />
