Mulu National Park, Sarawak
This world-famous national park boasts three adventure treks
that can put a sports enthusiast to test. Be prepared for the
forested slopes, crossing fast flowing rivers and clear jungle
streams; a good level of physical fitness is required to
complete the trek. Overnight stays in this park is to be
expected as some of treks can take up to a couple of days
to finish, so you should bring along basic camping gears for
stays in jungle base camps.
Penang National Park, Penang
Looking for a hiking place that offers you a scenery that is
more than just trees and mountains? Head over to Malaysia’s
youngest national park in Penang. The Penang National Park
offers hikers with a canopy walkway, two tough trails and
secluded beaches that also serve as a sea turtle sanctuary.
Now, how’s that for a change in view? Remember to bring
along plenty of food and water when hiking at this national
park, as food and beverages are not sold within the area.
Broga Hill, Selangor
Where’s the best place to see sunrise in Selangor? Broga Hill!
It stands at a height of about 400 metres and offers views of
both Selangor and Negeri Sembilan combined. You need to
begin your hike as early as five in the morning to view the
sunrise from Broga Hill’s summit; a sight you would not want
to miss. A headlamp or flashlight is a must if you are hiking
before dawn and wear comfortable clothing as you will need
to climb a few boulders at the top. For a more adventurous
experience, set up a camp and put up a night atop Broga Hill
for star-gazing on clear nights.
