KLIA Aeropolis
On The Horizon
Malaysia Airports will be
spearheading the development of
an airport city – KLIA Aeropolis
What is
Aeropolis?
Aeropolis is the concept of a
city airport that can be a catalyst
for urban economic developments
and the centre of clusters for
related technological,
innovation and research
activities.
The coming years will see Malaysia Airports strive to become
a “Global Leader in Creating Airport Cities” while growing its
commercial and non-aeronautical revenue further to become a
key economic generator for the nation.
Aspiring to be the worldwide benchmark in spearheading the
establishment of urban townships and communities around
airports, KLIA Aeropolis will be one of the identified strategic
priorities of Malaysia Airports’ business direction for the next
five years. The aim is not just to develop KLIA Aeropolis as an
aviation hub, but also a destination in its own right. So whether
it is for business, tourism, leisure or shopping purposes, KLIA
Aeropolis will be able to cater to everyone’s needs.
KLIA Aeropolis will serve as an important link to global markets
as it establishes a platform for international businesses and
trades to take place that will in turn benefit Malaysia’s economic
development. It is expected that KLIA Aeropolis will bring about
RM7 billion in potential investments as well as creating plenty
of job opportunities. According to Datuk Badlisham Ghazali,
Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Malaysia Airports is
fortunate to have the 10 x 10km land bank surrounding KLIA
allocated by the government as this will place the group in a
prime position to facilitate the creation of KLIA Aeropolis.
