A Glimpse Of Everything
Turning heads were celebrity and emerging
Muslimah designers whose traditional designs
were cleverly interpreted into fashion that’s
modest yet astoundingly stylish and
contemporary; young emerging designers
such as Fern Chua, Hanif Naim and Max
Mak brought dramatic silhouettes to the
ramp; exquisite men’s wear from
established Malaysia designers Bon
Zainal and Fairuz Ramdan; and
stunning evening wear from some
of Asia’s finest talents.
Star Wars-
Inspired Wears
Something out of the ordinary
but nonetheless unique, the
night continued on with a
spellbinding show of models
sporting Star Wars-inspired
wears. It was the first fashion
week in Asia to be part of the
stellar Star Wars high fashion
showcase in the lead-up to
the upcoming film Star
Wars: The Force Awakens.
Zang Toi’s Spring/
Summer 2016 Collection
Also on the prowl was New York based
Malaysian designer Zang Toi’s Spring/
Summer 2016 collection. In his collection
of 24 designs which were women’s suits,
cocktail dresses and gowns with
imperial brocade embellishments
depicting traditional shadow puppet
silhouettes, Zang Toi’s masterpieces
reflected Malaysian opulence on an
impressive scale.
About MFW2015
The Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) is a 4-day event that brought
together local and international fashion exhibitors at a dedicated
fashion lifestyle trade exhibition – FACIT@INTRADE – and designers
for a fashion showcase. For 2015, MFW’s focus was around YOUTH
ENGAGEMENT with broad-based programmes highlighting young
designers, fashion expressions by design and fashion students and
youth collaborations with the fashion and music industry.
MFW is a collaborative effort between Malaysia External Trade
Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysia’s leading fashion
event organiser STYLO International to boost the Malaysian fashion
industry by propelling local brands internationally, whilst aiming to
elevate Malaysia into a major fashion hub both in Asia and globally.
