96 “I’M MEAN”
and Kevin Quinn wrote the raucous number in which the sidekick parrot
Iago (voice of Gilbert Gottfried) declares his independence from the evil
wizard Jafar and vows to no longer serve his former master or his sinister
schemes.
“I’m Mean” is the rockabilly character song for the villainous Bluto (Paul
L. Smith) in the cartoonish live-action movie Popeye (1980). Harry Nilsson
wrote the fiery number, which Bluto sings as he destroys all the furniture
when Olive Oyl doesn’t show up for their engagement party.
“I’m Moving On” is the fast and satirical song that Randy Petersen, Cheri
Steinkellner, and Kevin Quinn wrote for the animated movie Teacher’s Pet
(2004). The Broadway-style number about dealing with change is sung by
the dog-turned-human Scott (voice of Nathan Lane), his boy master, Leonard
(Shaun Fleming); Leonard’s mother, Mary Lou (Debra Jo Rupp); the
“I’m Odd” is the song of self-proclaimed insanity written by Sammy Fain
(music) and Bob Hilliard (lyric) for the animated film Alice in Wonderland
(1951), but it was cut from the final print. The Cheshire Cat (voice of Sterling
Holloway) proudly admits that he has lost his reason in the risible song.
The number was cut, along with “Beware the Jabberwock,” when the whole
sequence based on Lewis Carroll’s poem “Jabberwocky” was eliminated
from the movie.
“I’m Still Here” is the rock song John Rzeznik wrote for the animated
adventure movie Treasure Planet (2002), an updated version of Robert
Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. As he slaves away aboard the flying galleon
RLS Legacy, Jim Hawkins recalls his unhappy childhood and the day
his father walked out on him and his mother. Songwriter Rzeznik sings the
harsh song on the soundtrack as Jim’s memories are interwoven with scenes
of his present situation, in which the cyborg cook John Silver teaches him
various tasks aboard ship. Rzeznik made an effective music video of the
song, which is sometimes listed as “Jim’s Theme.”
“I’m Wishing” is the echoing “I am” song for the title heroine in the animated
fairy tale movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) that was
