<strong>The</strong> medium of television brought the <strong>Disney</strong> Company a new form of popularity,<br />

as with the fondly remembered Mickey Mouse Club (1955). Not only was Jimmie<br />

Dodd (center) the adult host of the show, he also wrote many songs for the program,<br />

including the the opening “Mickey Mouse Club March” and the lullaby-like<br />

closing number “Mickey Mouse Club Alma Mater.” (Walt <strong>Disney</strong>/Photofest)<br />

about Kit’s plane that goes into a tailspin and the many tales he has to spin.<br />

<strong>The</strong> song is sometimes listed as “Spin It!”<br />

“Tall Paul” is the adoring pop ballad by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman<br />

about a girl who is infatuated with a boy who is tall in stature and<br />

number one in her heart. <strong>The</strong> peppy number, very 1960s in temperament<br />

and flavor, was written for former Mouseketeer Judy Harriet, and although<br />

her 1958 recording got a lot of airplay, it did not sell. Hoping to further<br />

Mouseketeer Annette Funicello’s singing career, Walt <strong>Disney</strong> thought the<br />

song ideal for her. Funicello’s 1959 recording on the <strong>Disney</strong> label went to
