giant peach. <strong>The</strong>y are joined in song by his friends the Earthworm (David<br />

<strong>The</strong>wlis), Spider (Susan Sarandon), Glow Worm (Miriam Margoyles), Lady<br />

Bug (Jane Leeves), and Centipede (Richard Dreyfuss), assuring James that<br />

they consider him one of the family.<br />

“Farewell” is the reflective ballad that adds a touch of authenticity to the<br />

adventure movie Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier (1955). <strong>The</strong><br />

pioneer Davy Crockett penned a poem the night before the attack on the<br />

Alamo, looking back with thanks on the many blessings he had enjoyed<br />

throughout his life and urging Americans to fight for their beliefs even as<br />

he saw certain defeat facing him the next day. George Bruns set the poem<br />

to music and it is sung by Crockett (Fess Parker) in a pensive moment in<br />

the film.<br />

“Fat Cat Stomp” is the energetic swing number written by Michael and<br />

Patty Silversher for an episode of the animated television series Chip ’n<br />

Dale Rescue Rangers (1989). In order to distract the villains, the chipmunk<br />

sleuths Chip and Dale disguise themselves as chorus girls in a casino floor<br />

show and sing this vibrant musical salute to the mobster Fat Cat, who owns<br />

the place. Soon everyone in the club joins in, including Fat Cat himself,<br />

who proclaims he has nine lives to burn on the dance floor.<br />

“Father and Son” is the comic list song written by Kevin Quinn and<br />

Randy Petersen for the video sequel Aladdin and the King of Thieves<br />

(1995). <strong>The</strong> Genie (voice of Robin Williams) welcomes Cassim (Merwin<br />

Foard), the long-lost father of Aladdin (Brad Kane), to the palace and lists<br />

all the things they can do as father and son as they make up for lost time.<br />

Aladdin and Cassim join in, adding comments on the Genie’s suggestions<br />

and making for a bouncy trio.<br />

“Fathoms Below” is the rousing sea chantey that is used in the opening<br />

of the animated movie musical <strong>The</strong> Little Mermaid (1989). <strong>The</strong> sailors<br />

aboard Prince Eric’s ship sing the brief Alan Menken (music) and Howard<br />

Ashman (lyric) song about King Triton, who rules the sea. <strong>The</strong> number was<br />

expanded for the 2008 Broadway version of <strong>The</strong> Little Mermaid, and Glenn<br />

Slater wrote additional lyrics, which were sung by the sailors and Eric (Sean<br />

Palmer).<br />

“Fee Fi Fo Fum” is the bouncy character song for Willie the Giant (voice<br />

of Billy Gilbert) in the “Mickey and the Beanstalk” section of the animated
