150 “ONE JUMP”
“One Jump” is the frantic “I am” song for the title “street rat” in the
animated film Aladdin (1992). Alan Menken (music) and Howard Ashman
(lyric) wrote the light-footed number, which Aladdin (voice of Brad Kane)
sings as he dodges angry merchants and runs away from the sultan’s guards
through the streets of Agrabah. Later, in a quieter moment in the movie,
Aladdin reprises the song, revealing his hopes of bettering his lot someday.
Debbie Shapiro Gravitte made a noteworthy recording of the song in
1994.
“One Last Hope” is the comic character song for the satyr Philoctetes
(voice of Danny DeVito) written by Alan Menken (music) and David Zippel
(lyric) for the animated film Hercules (1997). Although the hero-trainer
“Phil” has prepared many strong and brave men in the past, none of them
has become a superhero. He sings to Hercules that the attempt to train him
to become a hero will be his last.
“One Moment” is the emotionally charged song about friendship written by
Brahm Wenger for the movie sequel Air Bud: Golden Receiver (1998). During
the closing credits of the film, Melinda Myers sings the heartfelt ballad
about having someone at your side you can depend on, echoing the thoughts
of the young football player Josh and his canine teammate, Buddy.
“One More Sleep Till Christmas” is the yearning list song Paul Williams
wrote for the film The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992). After Scrooge
leaves his office, Bob Cratchit, played by Kermit the Frog (voice of Steve
Whitmire), and a band of bookkeeping rats close up shop and sing the
happy number that lists all the things to look forward to on Christmas Day.
A bit later in the film, Bob Cratchit and his young son Tiny Tim (Jerry
Nelson) reprise a scat version of the song, titled “Christmas Scat,” as Bob
carries his son through the streets of London.
“One of a Kind” is the jazzy number about being a unique individual from
the made-for-video animated sequel 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London
Adventure (2003). Noko, Trevor Gray, Richard Gibb, Howard Gray, and
Mel Leven wrote the raspy song, which was sung by Apollo 440 over the
closing credits of the video.
“One of Us” is the uncomfortable song of mob psychology written by Tom
Snow (music) and Jack Feldman (lyric) for the video sequel The Lion King
