“Fa La La La Fallen in Love” is the doo-wop-flavored number written
by Walter Edgar Kennon for the animated video sequel The Hunchback of
Notre Dame II (2002). Laverne (singing voice of Mary Jay Clough), Victor
(Charles Kimbrough), and Hugo (Jason Alexander), the gargoyles who
perch atop the cathedral, are thrilled to see their friend Quasimodo in love
and sing this catchy song of celebration, which is soon picked up by the
citizens of Paris and is heard across the city.
“Fabulous” is the satiric list song that itemizes the priorities of the selfcentered,
spoiled teenager Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) in the television sequel
High School Musical 2 (2007). Sitting by the pool at her family’s country
club, Sharpay sings of the shallow things that mean the most to her, and she
is joined by her clueless brother Ryan, (Lucas Grabeel), and her two toadies.
The number soon grows into an elaborate production number in and
around the swimming pool. David Lawrence and Faye Greenberg wrote
the wry and revealing character song.
“Family” is the easygoing soft-shoe number about mutual appreciation
and camaraderie written by Randy Newman for James and the Giant Peach
(1996), the movie fantasy that mixed live-action and stop-motion animation.
The Grasshopper (voice of Simon Callow) plays his violin and sings the song
to the orphaned James (Paul Terry) as they float through the sky on the
