“THE GRANDEST EASTER OF THEM ALL” 69
song, filled with backup “bop bop bee bop” vocals, and it is sung by a male
chorus over the opening credits.
“The Gospel Truth” is the vivacious opening song by Alan Menken
(music) and David Zippel (lyric) for the animated film Hercules (1997).
The mock-gospel number is sung by the Muses (voices of Lilias White, La
Chanze, Tawatha Agee, Roz Ryan, Cheryl Freeman, and Vanessa Thomas)
as they begin the adventure story, giving expositional information about the
baby Hercules and setting the comic, anachronistic tone for the film.
“Gotta Find You” is the lonely torch song about a young man who is looking
for something special and unique, written by Adam Watts and Andy
Dodd for the television musical Camp Rock (2008). Pop singer Shane Gray
(Joe Jonas) of the music group Connect 3 is sent to be a counselor at Camp
Rock to improve his bad-boy image. In this number, he tries to revamp his
writing style to sound more like the music he wants to sing.
“Gotta Fly” is the bubbly closing song for the television series Dumbo’s
Circus (1985), which uses “puppetronics” to present a new adventure at the
circus each week. Phillip Baron wrote the tuneful number, which is not about
Dumbo’s ability to fly but rather explains to the audience that the show is over
and the characters have to leave. A chorus sings the circus-like song while all
the puppets pack up their things in the wagons and depart for another town.
“Gotta Go My Own Way” is the pop duet for two sweethearts parting
written by Andy Dodd and Adam Watts for the television movie High
School Musical 2 (2007). When teenager Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens)
realizes that her boyfriend Troy (Zac Efron) has changed since he
has been spending time with his manipulating benefactress Sharpay Evans
(Ashley Tisdale), she decides she can no longer be his girlfriend and sings
this heartfelt pop ballad as she tells Troy they must break up. He pleads
with her in song to not leave him, but Gabriella insists on going her own
way.
“The Grandest Easter of Them All” is the sprightly holiday number
that Randy Rogel (music and lyric) and Grant Geissman (lyric) wrote for
the animated video Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo (2004). Rabbit
(voice of Ken Sansom) has just about ruined Easter with all his rules about
how to celebrate it, but he comes to his senses and sings this bubbly song
as he quickly prepares eggs and decorations for his friends.
