Oscar-nominated song is sung on the soundtrack by Nancy Adams during
a montage showing the fox Robin Hood falling in love with the vixen Maid
Marian, the two of them walking through the forest at night surrounded by
fireflies. The number is briefly reprised later in the film at the wedding of
Robin and Marian. While the lyric is in the courtly love vein, the music has
a driving pop flavor.
“Love Is a Song” is the Oscar-nominated ballad that opens and closes the animated
movie Bambi (1942). Frank Churchill (music) and Larry Morey (lyric)
wrote the flowing number about love being like music, since it never ends.
It is sung by Donald Novis and a chorus on the soundtrack during the opening
credits and during the pastoral establishing shots of the film. The chorus
reprises the song when Faline’s twin fawns are born and Bambi becomes the
new Great Prince of the Forest. The music from the number is used on the
soundtrack for some scenes in the animated video sequel Bambi II (2006).
“Love Led Us Here” is the heartfelt love duet by Barry Mann and Cynthia
Weil that was used for a comic love scene in the movie Muppet Treasure
Island (1996). Captain Smollett, played by Kermit the Frog (voice of
Steve Whitmire), and his long-lost sweetheart Benjamina Gunn, played by
Miss Piggy (Frank Oz), have been captured by pirates and tied up, hanging
upside down together over a cliff. As the rope holding them up slowly burns
away, the two sing this cheerful duet about how all their past troubles have
brought them together again. During the end credits the ballad is sung as a
serious duet on the soundtrack by John Berry and Helen Darling.
“Love Power” is the pulsating reggae number written by and performed
by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers at the end of the movie Muppet
Treasure Island (1996). As the lifeboat carrying Long John Silver (Tim
Curry) and the treasure slowly sinks into the Caribbean, the lively number
about letting love lift you up is heard, the fish and rat tourists swimming in
time to the music.
“Love Will Find a Way” is the romantic ballad written by Tom Snow
(music) and Jack Feldman (lyric) for the video sequel The Lion King 2:
Simba’s Pride (1998). The lion Kovu (singing voice of Gene Miller) is falsely
convicted of a crime and is driven away from the Pride Lands. He leaves
behind his true love Kiara (Liz Callaway), and, though separated, they each
sing this song, believing love will bring them together again.
