students from various nations gather for a social occasion and coeds Dinah
(Annette Funicello) and Joan (Millicent Martin) lead the group in this
simple but sprightly number about the international language of humming
along to the strumming of a guitar.
“Strut” is the lite-rock song by Jamie Houston that is sung by four American
teens as they explore the city of Barcelona in the television sequel The
Cheetah Girls 2 (2006). While pop singers Galleria (Raven-Symoné), Chanel
(Adrienne Bailon), Aqua (Kiely Williams), and Dorinda (Sabrina Bryan)
are seen in different locations of the Spanish city, they are heard singing
this pounding number on the soundtrack, claiming you must strut like you
mean it if you want to get noticed.
“Substitutiary Locomotion” is the bubbly contrapuntal (or double) song
written by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman for the film fantasy Bedknobs
and Broomsticks (1971). While Professor Emelius Brown (David
Tomlinson) and three young evacuees (Ian Weighill, Cindy Callaghan, and
magical movement. Soon shoes, clothes, and other objects come to life and
the number in 2003 as part of a medley of nonsense songs.
singing dubbed by Marilyn Hooven) sings the warm ballad to her children
(Hayley Mills, Eddie Hodges, and Jimmy Mathers) as they sit on the porch
of their new home in the country. The lullaby-like number is accompanied
by nature footage showing the evening activities of the local animals.
“Summer Sweet” is the evocative ballad by Bobby Russell that captures
the lazy days of summer and the hollow ache of change, heard in the period
movie Rascal (1969). While a montage shows the youth Sterling (Bill
Mumy), his dog, Wowser, and a raccoon named Rascal having summer
escapades, a harmonic male chorus sings the reflective number on the
soundtrack.
“Super Nova Girl” is the supposed-futuristic love song from the television
movie Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (1999). Kristian Rex and Sabelle
