Works and ODSP caseworkers also be involved Priority areas include:<br />

• Making the adjudication process more transparent<br />

• Improving the quality of decision-making through improved hiring and training<br />

and better internal processes<br />

• Ensuring equitable access <strong>for</strong> Indigenous peoples<br />

• Reviewing administrative and legal processes<br />

Improving the quality of disability adjudication will have the added benefit of<br />

reducing the number of unnecessary appeals<br />

Medical review is currently a mechanism in place to determine whether those who<br />

received ODSP <strong>for</strong> a condition that is likely to improve within a specified time frame<br />

have in fact improved or whether they continue to be eligible The ministry, in<br />

partnership with the Disability Adjudication Working Group, recently simplified the<br />

medical review process by introducing a new <strong>for</strong>m, which will be easier <strong>for</strong> ODSP<br />

recipients and health care professionals to complete This is a positive step in<br />

improving the medical review process<br />

CASEWORKER SUPPORT<br />

Ontario Works includes many people with disabilities, including some who will,<br />

and others who will not, make the transition to ODSP It is essential <strong>for</strong> both ODSP<br />

and Ontario Works to be well equipped to support and accommodate<br />
