As such, effecting positive change can only happen through honouring the voices<br />
of urban Indigenous communities, which continue to call <strong>for</strong> greater access,<br />
equity, transparency and accountability in the income security system While<br />
positive steps have been taken in this <strong>Roadmap</strong>, ongoing trans<strong>for</strong>mational work<br />
and many years of action towards systems change are required<br />
As part of our work, the Urban Indigenous Table on <strong>Income</strong> <strong>Security</strong> Re<strong>for</strong>m has<br />
utilized best practices, knowledge and experience from each partnering organization<br />
to best capture the unique needs of Métis and urban Indigenous peoples across<br />
Ontario Many of our recommendations <strong>for</strong> re<strong>for</strong>m have focussed on the need to<br />
move away from rule-based approaches that focus on surveillance and en<strong>for</strong>cement<br />
to approaches based on positive interactions, social inclusion and helping people to<br />
achieve improved outcomes We have advocated <strong>for</strong> urban Indigenous communities<br />
and highlighted how the impacts of the current system and potential re<strong>for</strong>ms need<br />
to be carefully considered We look <strong>for</strong>ward to continuing our work to implement the<br />
trans<strong>for</strong>mational change called <strong>for</strong> in this <strong>Roadmap</strong><br />
