What is <strong>the</strong> relation with <strong>the</strong> port and water?<br />
The Port of Amsterdam is mak<strong>in</strong>g great efforts to attract<br />
small entrepeneurs. These start-ups br<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>novation<br />
(specifically <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> bio-based economy). The<br />
port authority also looks a step fur<strong>the</strong>r and facilitate<br />
<strong>the</strong> start-ups to grow to <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustrial scale of <strong>the</strong><br />
port, reserv<strong>in</strong>g specific area’s <strong>in</strong>side <strong>the</strong> port for this<br />
future growth.<br />
What is <strong>the</strong> relation with <strong>the</strong> city?<br />
Prodock offers a community with opportunities for<br />
cross-poll<strong>in</strong>ation and a platform with a lot of exposure.<br />
They program and manage <strong>the</strong> place so ‘spontaneous’<br />
encounters can trigger exchange and <strong>in</strong>novations.<br />
The connectivity to <strong>the</strong> airport, reflects<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational character and range of bus<strong>in</strong>esses<br />
<strong>the</strong>y wish to attract.<br />
What are <strong>the</strong> ambitions?<br />
The development and commercial roll-out of new<br />
products and processes <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustrial port. This<br />
specifically <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> biobased economy, as an alternative<br />
to <strong>the</strong> old, fossil-based <strong>in</strong>dustrial processes.<br />
So far, Prodock was a greas succes and proven<br />
<strong>the</strong> value of hav<strong>in</strong>g a meet<strong>in</strong>g place <strong>in</strong>side <strong>the</strong> port<br />
area, close to <strong>the</strong> companies, that fosters <strong>in</strong>teraction<br />
and exchange. Now, <strong>the</strong> Port Authority is look<strong>in</strong>g<br />
at a Prodock 2 for medium scaled enterprises<br />
- it appears that <strong>the</strong>re is need far an <strong>in</strong>-between facility,<br />
with adequent <strong>in</strong>frastructure (high pressure,<br />
heath,...), that can bridge <strong>the</strong> gap towards <strong>in</strong>dustrial<br />
plants and processes.<br />
Who is beh<strong>in</strong>d it?<br />
An <strong>in</strong>itiative of <strong>the</strong> Port Authority of Amsterdam; to<br />
offer an accessible way to establish a (<strong>in</strong>dustrial)<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess. Private partners <strong>in</strong>volved who are responsible<br />
for a ‘community network’ are: iTanks (a knowledge<br />
and <strong>in</strong>novation platform) and PNO consultants<br />
(subsidy and <strong>in</strong>novation advice). There are currently<br />
13 companies present, l<strong>in</strong>ked to <strong>the</strong> biobased or circular<br />
economy.<br />

where, <strong>in</strong> a ‘plug & play’ way, can be rented.
