What’s happen<strong>in</strong>g? How does it happen?<br />
The Material Village <strong>in</strong>cludes 3 warehouses built<br />
along <strong>the</strong> canal <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Vergote bas<strong>in</strong>, currently occupied<br />
by <strong>the</strong> company MPro, which offers more than<br />
10,000m² of build<strong>in</strong>g materials. The idea is to create<br />
a multifunctional and modular space comb<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g storage<br />
space, showroom and offices: 7000 m² of susta<strong>in</strong>able<br />
warehouses!<br />
The objective is to make <strong>the</strong> Material Village <strong>the</strong> consolidation<br />
po<strong>in</strong>t for orders from one or more con-<br />
struction sites. Loaded vehicles leave for <strong>the</strong> sites,<br />
depend<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>the</strong> progress <strong>in</strong> real time of <strong>the</strong> work,<br />
avoid<strong>in</strong>g unnecessary round trips.<br />
Why is this an <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g circular <strong>in</strong>itiative for<br />
circular ports?<br />
The construction of <strong>the</strong>se warehouses on <strong>the</strong> port<br />
facilitates <strong>the</strong> use of <strong>the</strong> waterway to transport construction<br />
materials from o<strong>the</strong>r cities or distribute<br />
<strong>the</strong>m as close as possible to <strong>the</strong> worksites <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> city.
