What’s happen<strong>in</strong>g?How does it happen?<br />

The area manager is positioned on <strong>the</strong> bottleneck<br />

between <strong>the</strong> vision for <strong>the</strong> area, <strong>the</strong> ´Kaderplan´<br />

from 2014, and <strong>the</strong> companies <strong>in</strong>side this area. His<br />

task is to be a first contact and bridge <strong>the</strong> gap between<br />

policy and <strong>the</strong> operational side of <strong>the</strong> companies.<br />

On <strong>the</strong> border between government and companies,<br />

he encourages <strong>the</strong> right organisations to<br />

start projects. Some of his core tasks are: reliev<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> burden on companies via an <strong>in</strong>formation desk;<br />

help<strong>in</strong>g to f<strong>in</strong>d realisable projects to make companies<br />

more susta<strong>in</strong>able; assist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> search for location,<br />

energy sub-projects, <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g waterborne<br />

freight transport, jo<strong>in</strong>t purchas<strong>in</strong>g...<br />

Why is this an <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g circular <strong>in</strong>itiative for<br />

circular harbours?<br />

In order to become more circular, a good understand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of what is <strong>the</strong>re is crucial to establish new<br />

synergies and symbiosis. Trust, shar<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>formation,<br />

and talk<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> same language (bus<strong>in</strong>ess-case<br />

check-ups) can help <strong>in</strong> detect<strong>in</strong>g will<strong>in</strong>g actors, def<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

next steps and manag<strong>in</strong>g projects towards<br />

more symbiosis between hous<strong>in</strong>g and production<br />

and more water-bound activities.
