Education Minors<br />
The minor in professional education requires EDU 201, 307, 311, 354, 364, 374, 381, and is<br />
awarded only to students who complete student teaching. The non-licensure minor, which does<br />
not include student teaching, requires all of the coursework required for the minor and a major<br />
in one of the secondary license areas.<br />
131. Adolescent Literature. (2h) Study of recent fiction centering on the lives of adolescents.<br />
Attention is given to interpretation of literature ranging from the reader response approach to<br />
critical pluralism. By placement only.<br />
201. Foundations of Education. (3h) Philosophical, historical, and sociological foundations of<br />
education, including analysis of contemporary issues and problems. Includes twenty hours<br />

223. Theatre in Education. (3h) Practical experience for theatre and education students to work<br />
together with children in the classroom using theatre to teach core curriculum. Emphasis on<br />
methods and techniques as well as the development and implementation of creative lesson<br />

regional development, and urbanization. Credit not allowed for both EDU 271 and 274.<br />
272. Geography Study Tour. (3h) A guided tour of selected areas to study physical, economic,<br />
and cultural environments and their influence on man. Background references for reading are<br />
suggested prior to the tour. (CD) Offered in the summer.<br />
273. Geography: The Natural Environment. (3h) Systematic study of the major components of<br />
physical geography with special emphasis on climate and topography.<br />
