The Evans Family Scholarship, established by<br />

Ernest L. & Austine O. Evans, supports the<br />

The W. D. & Alberta B. Holleman Memorial<br />

Scholarship supports the William Louis Poteat<br />

Scholarship program.<br />

The E. Glen & Joyce Holt Scholarship supports<br />

the William Louis Poteat Scholarship program.<br />

The Walter & Eva Reynolds Scholarship supports<br />

the William Louis Poteat Scholarship program.<br />

The Roy & Doris Smith Scholarship supports the<br />

William Louis Poteat Scholarship program.<br />

The Minnie & Fred Stone Scholarship supports<br />

the William Louis Poteat Scholarship program.<br />

The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps<br />

(AROTC) Scholarships are awarded for academic<br />

and personal achievement and pay<br />

annually an amount determined by the<br />

U.S. Army for tuition; a flat rate for texts,<br />

equipment, and supplies; and a subsistence<br />

allowance. Recipients must enroll and fully<br />

participate in Army ROTC. Four-year AROTC<br />

scholarships are applied for during the latter<br />

part of the junior or the early part of the senior<br />

year of high school. Two- and three-year<br />

AROTC scholarships are applied for during<br />

the sophomore and freshman years, respectively,<br />

through the Department of Military<br />

Science.<br />

The Dr. George E. & Lila C. Bradford Scholarship,<br />

valued at full tuition annually, is awarded<br />

to an outstanding entering first-year student<br />

with an intent and capacity to prepare for a<br />

career in medicine. Scholars may receive up<br />

to $2,000 at least one summer for approved<br />

travel or study projects. The Merit-Based<br />

Scholarships Application is due January 1.<br />

The Junius C. & Eliza P. Brown Scholarships<br />

assist needy and worthy residents of North<br />

Carolina, with preference to residents of<br />

Rockingham County, NC. For entering firstyear<br />

students, the Merit-Based Scholarships<br />

Application is due January 1.<br />

The Robert P. & Dorothy Caldwell Scholarship<br />

is awarded to entering first-year students<br />

based on academic achievement, leadership,<br />

community service, and a commitment to<br />

helping others. A portion of these funds gives<br />

preference to needy students from Gaston<br />

and Catawba, NC counties. The Merit-Based<br />

Scholarships Application is due January 1.<br />

The Gary Franklin Culler Scholarship is awarded<br />

to entering first-year students based on ability<br />

and leadership potential, with preference to<br />

students from High Point, NC. The Merit-<br />

Based Scholarships Application is due by<br />

January 1.<br />

The Egbert L. Davis Jr. Scholarship is awarded to<br />

entering first-year students from North Carolina<br />

demonstrating outstanding academic<br />

performance, diligence, integrity, character,<br />

leadership, and reasonable athletic competence.<br />

Awards are renewable based on a<br />

B average, exemplary personal conduct,<br />

and participation in the religious life of the<br />

<strong>University</strong>. The Merit-Based Scholarships Application<br />

is due January 1.<br />

The George Foster Hankins Scholarships assist<br />

needy and worthy residents of North Carolina<br />

or children of alumni/ae living in other states<br />

with preference to residents of Davidson<br />

County, NC. For entering first-year students,<br />

the Merit-Based Scholarships Application is<br />

due January 1.
