on historical and cultural influences and their application to costuming in art.<br />
259. Theatre Management: Principles and Practices. (3h) Reviews the development of theatre<br />
management in the U.S. with emphasis on the role of the producer; explores commercial and<br />
not-for-profit theatre with attention to planning, personnel, and the economics of theatre. Includes<br />
readings, lectures, and reports.<br />
260. History of Western Theatre I (Beginnings to 1642). (3h) Survey of the development of Western<br />
theatre and drama through the Greek, Roman, medieval, and Renaissance theatres to 1642;<br />
includes lectures, readings and reports. Suitable for non-majors.<br />
261. History of Western Theatre II (1642 to the Present). (3h) Survey of Western theatre and drama<br />
from the French Neoclassic theatre through the English Restoration, the eighteenth century,<br />
Romanticism, Realism, the revolts against Realism and the post-modern theatre; includes<br />
lectures, readings and reports. Suitable for non-majors.<br />
270. Theatre in Education. (3h) Practical experience for theatre and education students to work<br />
together with children in the classroom using theatre to teach core curriculum. Emphasizes<br />

2650. The English Theatre, 1660-1940. (3h) Study of the major developments in the English<br />
theatre from the Restoration to World War II, including the plays, playwrights, actors, audiences,<br />
theatre architecture, theatre management, costumes, and sets. Field trips include visits to<br />
theatres, museums, and performances. Offered in London.<br />
2660. Modern English and Continental Drama and the London Stage. (3h) Studies in the works of<br />
major playwrights of England and Europe from 1875 to the present. May a<strong>ls</strong>o include contemporary<br />
production of classic plays. Emphasis is on plays which are currently being presented in<br />
