The Gail Sawyer Moore Scholarship, established<br />

by Ernest Linwood Moore, assists North<br />

Carolina women.<br />

The Thomas E. & Ruth Mullen Scholarship, valued<br />

at $1,500 annually, is awarded through the<br />

Upperclass Carswell Scholarship Program to<br />

outstanding undergraduates with a minimum<br />

of one year of academic work at the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

A separate application is due October 15.<br />

The Charlie & Addie Myers Memorial Scholarship<br />

assists preministerial students or students<br />

contributing to Christianity.<br />

The Hiram Abif Myers III Scholarship assists a<br />

senior from Roswell High School, Roswell,<br />

GA, who best exemplifies the idea<strong>ls</strong> and<br />

characteristics of Bif Myers. The candidate is<br />

recommended by the Roswell High School<br />

principal.<br />

The R. Frank Nanney Scholarship gives preference<br />

first to students from Rutherford County,<br />

NC, and second to other North Carolinians.<br />

The George Thompson Noel, M.D., Memorial<br />

Scholarship is based on ability and need, with<br />

preference to students from Cabarrus County<br />

and North Carolina.<br />

The Norfleet Scholarships assist needy students.<br />

The North Carolina Contractual Scholarship,<br />

made available by the North Carolina General<br />

Assembly through the State Contractual<br />

Scholarship Fund, is awarded to needy North<br />

Carolinians.<br />

The Nostitz International Travel Fund assists<br />

students from middle income families, who<br />

are studying abroad in a program approved<br />

by <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> in London, Vienna, or Venice.<br />

The Gordon Alexander O’Brien Scholarship is<br />

awarded based on ability and need, with<br />

preference to students from Rockingham<br />

County, NC.<br />

The Curtis Eugene Overby Sr. Scholarship is<br />

awarded based on ability, need, and leadership<br />

to a North Carolina junior or senior majoring<br />

in communication, with an interest in<br />

broadcasting. Preference is given to students<br />

from Forsyth, Rockingham, and Caswell<br />

Counties, NC.<br />

The Dr. James Barry Douglas Palmer Scholarship,<br />

sponsored by the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company,<br />

assists needy juniors with a cumulative<br />

grade point average of 3.0 or greater who are<br />

biology, chemistry or physics majors with<br />

special interests in biomedical or biological<br />

sciences.<br />

The Benjamin Wingate Parham Scholarship is<br />

awarded based on ability and need.<br />

The Parrella Family Scholarship assists needy<br />

students, with preference to students with a<br />

career interest in a health profession, and with<br />

preference first to students from the Bronx or<br />

nearby areas, second to students from New<br />

Jersey, third to students from states contiguous<br />

to New Jersey, and fourth to students<br />

from other middle Atlantic states.<br />

The Perkins-Prothro Foundation Scholarship assists<br />

needy Texas residents.<br />

The H. Franklin Perritt III Memorial Scholarship<br />

assists one or more rising sophomores enrolled<br />

in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps,<br />

based on leadership. Application is made<br />

through the Department of Military Science.<br />

The Thomas F. Pettus Scholarship is based on<br />

merit and need, with preference to North<br />

Carolina Baptists.<br />

The J. Robert Philpott Scholarship assists needy<br />

North Carolinians.<br />

The Dr. Dorn Carl Pittman & Betty Mitchell Pittman<br />

Scholarship assists students from middle<br />

income families, with preference to residents<br />

of Alamance County, NC, and second preference<br />

to students whose grandparent or parent<br />

is a <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> alumnus.<br />
