colleges. For enrolled <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> students<br />
and students readmitted to <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong>,<br />
transfer credit is accepted only from approved<br />
four-year institutions. For transfer hours to be<br />
accepted, the grade in any course must be C<br />
or better. Courses completed at other colleges<br />
or universities with the grade of C- or lower<br />
are not awarded transfer hours in <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong>.<br />

section of this bulletin for additional information.)<br />
A maximum of thirty-six <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong><br />
hours can be earned from the Gymnasium,<br />
Lyceum, French Baccalaureate, or equivalent<br />
programs.<br />
For students transferring courses on a<br />
quarter-hour system, semester hours may be<br />
assigned on the basis that one quarter hour<br />
times 0.67 equa<strong>ls</strong> one semester hour. No<br />
course may receive a higher conversion value<br />
than the value of the <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> course.<br />
Applications for transfer credit from<br />
distance learning courses are evaluated on<br />
an individual basis. Only those courses approved<br />
by the appropriate department chair<br />
are accepted. No more than six hours may be<br />
earned from such courses. It is the responsibility<br />
of the student to disclose to the registrar<br />
whether a class is a distance learning class.<br />
This does not apply to courses taken over the<br />
NC Interactive Video Network.<br />
Dual enrollment courses, college level<br />
courses taken at institutions other than <strong>Wake</strong><br />
<strong>Forest</strong>, are treated as transfer credit so long<br />
as the given course meets the <strong>University</strong>’s<br />
standard criteria for transfer credit.<br />
independent Study, Individual Study,<br />
Directed Reading and Internships<br />
Such work is ordinarily reserved for junior<br />
and senior students in the undergraduate<br />
schoo<strong>ls</strong>. Any student requesting approval<br />
for such a course must possess a cumulative<br />
grade point average of no less than 2.0 in<br />
<strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> courses. All such course requests<br />
must be approved by the appropriate department.<br />
The academic requirements should be<br />
completed during the semester in which a<br />
student is enrolled.<br />
The number of hours the student registers<br />
for in an independent study, individual study,<br />
directed reading, or internship course may<br />
not be changed during the add period unless<br />
approved by the sponsoring faculty member.<br />
Approval of Overseas Programs<br />
To receive academic credit for courses taken<br />
outside the U.S. on a non-<strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
program, students must: 1) not be on<br />
probation or suspension from <strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong>,<br />
2) obtain approval of the program from the<br />
Center for International Studies before applying,<br />
3) submit a declaration of intent to study<br />
abroad by the established deadline, 4) fulfill<br />
all required steps of the study abroad process<br />
during the semester prior to studying abroad,<br />
and 5) attend a mandatory pre-departure<br />
orientation.<br />
No student possessing less than a 2.0<br />
cumulative grade point average in either of<br />
the undergraduate schoo<strong>ls</strong> will receive credit<br />
in a non-<strong>Wake</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> study abroad program.<br />
