Executive Chairman. He was a non-executive director of Reed International plc. from 1992,
Reed Elsevier plc. and Elsevier NV and Chairman of Reed Elsevier in 1998/1999, retiring from
all these boards in 2002. He has been a director in numerous business sectors and has a wide
range of experience in the hotel industry in particular. He is currently non-executive Chairman
