" What country gave you birth,<br />

" And what events have brought you to this place ?<br />

K<strong>an</strong>i Tambuh<strong>an</strong> wept <strong>an</strong>d hung her head,<br />

Gently making her obeis<strong>an</strong>ce,<br />

She said <strong>with</strong> a sweet, affecting voice,<br />

«' The name <strong>of</strong> your serv<strong>an</strong>t is Kmii Tambuh<strong>an</strong>,<br />

" And that <strong>of</strong> my work is kariiigs<strong>an</strong>g way<strong>an</strong>g.<br />

" Our gracious mistress has given directions,<br />

" That we should all be daily employed in weaving,<br />

" For <strong>the</strong> lady whom your highness is to take to wife,<br />

" The princess whom you are going to woo at B<strong>an</strong>jai- Kitl<strong>an</strong>y<br />

To this Radin replied <strong>with</strong> a laugh,<br />

" To B<strong>an</strong>jar Kul<strong>an</strong> I am not going."<br />
