in the affirmative; Aldermen Murray, Faulkner, Stackpole, Pickett and Vice-
president Melley, 5, being absent at this stage of the meeting.

Police Department, I respectfully request your Honorable Board to take immediate
action on the confirmation of the Auxiliary Police appointments submitted
to your Honorable Board on June.llth.

I most sincerely and respectfully request that your Honorable-
Board may see your way clear to confirm the members of our Auxiliary Police
already appointed.
It is very necessary that this step be taken immediately for the
protection of our Citizens. An alert signal may be sounded momentarily and a
blackout is scheduled for Tuesday night .and your Honorable Board is refusing
our Department the authority to protect our community.
The enemy Is already sinking our ships almost within sight of the
State House and has already invaded our shores. The dally news was never
more disheartening on the progress of the war. Our Government is sending
millions of our men to the front and our President has repeatedly requested
