An Ordinance Amending the Building Zone Ordi- .<br />

nance <strong>of</strong> 1927 > <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong><br />

Be it ordained by the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong>,<br />

as follows:<br />

Section 1. The Building Ordinance <strong>of</strong> 1927, <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> is<br />

amended by adding the following new sections after Section 2.<br />

Section 2-A.,Every building hereafter erected in an Industrial<br />

and/or Business Zone shall be <strong>of</strong> first-class or mill construction.<br />

Section 2-B. No existing frame building shall be increased In<br />

floor area or height in an Industrial and/or Business Zone.<br />

Section 2-C- No addition and no alteration shall be made to<br />

the exterior <strong>of</strong> a frame or wooden dwelling house or other frame or wooden<br />

structure In an Industrial or Business Zone for the purpose <strong>of</strong> adapting it<br />

for any use other than a residence except as permitted by the Building Ordinances<br />

.<br />

Section 2-D. No frame or wooden building in an Industrial or<br />

Business Zone damaged by fire or any other casualty to the extent <strong>of</strong> more than<br />

fifty percent <strong>of</strong> Its replacement value shall be remodeled, repaired or replaced<br />

in whole or in part by a frame or wooden form <strong>of</strong> construction.<br />

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval<br />

by the Mayor.<br />

Read twice and further action deferred under the rules until<br />

the ordinance shall have been printed and a copy laid on the desk <strong>of</strong> each al-<br />

derman .<br />

The Committee on Licenses and Permits on the following,<br />

Kenney's Recreation by Charles Kenney for additional license for one billiard<br />

table and one pool table at 335B <strong>Somerville</strong> Ave<br />

reported recommending that such license be<br />

granted.<br />

For permission to maintain projections over the sidewalk from,<br />

H.P.Hood & Sons Inc. *J-20 Highland Ave* transfer<br />

Miller Oil Co. Webster Aye. & Prospect St.<br />

Gulf disc,<br />

Warren Street Cafe Inc. 10 Medford St. electric<br />

sign.,.<br />

Henry J. McGovern, 131 Willow Ave. electric<br />

sign, transfer <strong>of</strong> ownership<br />

reported recommending that such licenses be granted, subject in each case to<br />

a bond for $2,000 being filed with the <strong>City</strong><br />

Treasurer to protect the city from all claims,<br />

loss or liability.<br />
