theories relating to a di<strong>ver</strong>se<br />
society. Emphasis will be given to increasing<br />
understanding of subcultures based on<br />
race, ethnicity, age, religion, gender, language,<br />

uses of data. Observation as the basis for<br />

of field work assignments. Students will<br />
practice a variety of techniques in a variety<br />
of different settings. Students will organize<br />
data gathered for use in lesson<br />
planning and parent conferencing.<br />

with opportunities to identify, develop,<br />
and implement appropriate<br />
activities which support the total growth<br />
of the whole child. Emphasis is placed on<br />
teacher planning and implementation of<br />
curriculum, environment design, documentation<br />
of children's learning, and parent<br />
involvement. Advocacy for children<br />
and families in social policy and critical<br />
evaluation of early childhood<br />
programs/philosophies will be examined.<br />
