CalWORKs<br />
California Work Opportunity and<br />
Responsibility for Kids<br />
(CalWORKs) is the state’s welfareto-work<br />
program for families with<br />
children that are receiving Temporary<br />
aid for Needy Families<br />
(TANF). The <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
CalWORKs Program works in<br />
collaboration with the Department<br />
of Public Social Services to assist<br />
students with education, training,<br />
and job skills.<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> provides short-term<br />
training programs to help<br />
CalWORKs students enhance their<br />
skills and/or develop new skills in<br />
order to find employment and become<br />
self-sufficient. CalWORKs<br />
students receive assistance with<br />
completion of county paperwork<br />
child care, work-study job placement,<br />
and referrals to community<br />
resources.<br />
Additionally, CalWORKs students<br />
have the opportunity to establish<br />
education and career paths,<br />
which will help them as they<br />
transition off of cash aid.<br />
Campus Security<br />
Campus Security ensures the<br />
safety of students, faculty, staff<br />
and visitors while they are on<br />
campus property or involved in<br />
college-sponsored programs and<br />
activities, as well as protects district<br />
property and facilities.<br />

Campus Security has the authority<br />
to enforce the Standards of<br />
Student Conduct.<br />
According to the Education Code,<br />
Campus Security is the liaison<br />
with local law enforcement agencies<br />
in all criminal action cases.<br />
Therefore, in the event of an<br />
emergency individuals should<br />
promptly report the incident to<br />
Campus Security. It is Campus<br />
Security's responsibility to contact<br />
police agencies.<br />
Campus Security also provides a<br />
security escort for any member of<br />
the college community from dusk<br />
until dawn. These escorts are for<br />
safety, not convenience.<br />
Career/Transfer Center<br />
The Career/Transfer Center<br />
serves students’ career development<br />
and transfer needs.<br />
Career counselors help students<br />
explore occupations and career<br />
fields using comprehensive<br />
printed and computerized resources.<br />
Through workshops as<br />
well as individual counseling, our<br />
staff can help you decide on a career<br />
field and prepare you for the<br />
job market. Career assessments<br />
are available to measure your values,<br />
interests, and skills. We can<br />
help you determine which occupations<br />
and work environments<br />
could be a good fit for you.<br />

(CFTE)<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s Center for<br />
Teacher Excellence helps students<br />
interested in teaching build an<br />
educational plan that best suits<br />
their interests and goals. Students<br />
receive academic advising and<br />
counseling; preparation for the<br />
CBEST and CSET examinations;<br />
financial aid and scholarship assistance;<br />
help with uni<strong>ver</strong>sity<br />
transfer applications; networking<br />
opportunities through the student<br />
chapter of the California Teachers<br />
Association and more. Students<br />
who utilize the services offered by<br />
the Center for Teacher Excellence<br />
develop core competencies in<br />
communication; as well as creative,<br />
critical, and analytical thinking<br />
(problem solving and decision<br />
making).<br />
Child Development Center<br />
The Orfalea Family Children's<br />
Center at <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a state<br />
licensed program providing child<br />
development services for children<br />
2 1/2 to 5 years of age. It is accredited<br />
by the National Association<br />
for the Education of Young<br />
Children.<br />
Services include:<br />
• Early morning (6:30-<br />
8:00 a.m.) and late afternoon<br />
(4:00-6:30 p.m.) childcare<br />
• Age-specific developmental<br />
and educational programs in<br />
enclosed classrooms<br />
• Daily breakfast, lunch and<br />
