It is the student's responsibility to<br />

return the parking permit before<br />

the refund deadline in order to receive<br />

a refund for this item. Failure<br />

to do so will change the<br />

amount of the refund. Parking<br />

permits must be returned upon<br />

official withdrawal from the college<br />

and if a student changes<br />

from an on campus schedule to a<br />

Distance Education schedule.<br />

Cash refunds will not be issued.<br />

Credit will be immediately issued<br />

to credit card payments. Howe<strong>ver</strong>,<br />

the student and cardholder must<br />

be present, with the credit card<br />

and the credit card receipt, at the<br />

time of the refund request. Otherwise,<br />

a refund request form must be<br />

submitted. Fee payments made<br />

with cash, check or debit card will<br />

receive a refund by check. This<br />

check will be mailed to the address<br />

on file with the Admissions<br />

and Records Office. Therefore, it<br />

is important the address on file is<br />

correct and current.<br />

Student Financial Obligations<br />

All fees must be paid in a timely<br />

manner to avoid losing classes.<br />

Fee payment schedules are included<br />

in the class schedules and<br />

online.<br />

<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> will withhold grades,<br />

transcripts, degrees, registration<br />

privileges, or any combination<br />

thereof, from any student or former<br />

student who has failed to pay<br />

any financial obligation due the<br />

college. Holds on a student's<br />

record will be released when the<br />

debt obligation has been met.<br />

Debts must be paid in the form of<br />

cash or money order; a bank service<br />

charge will be added to the<br />

amount due.<br />

Cancelled Classes<br />

Classes may be cancelled at the<br />

discretion of the college. Students<br />

enrolled in a cancelled class may<br />

enroll in other open classes.<br />

Students who have a class or<br />

classes cancelled by the college<br />

because of low enrollment are eligible<br />

for a full refund of fees paid<br />

for those classes. The student<br />

must file a refund request at the<br />

Cashier's (Bursar's) Office. All applicable<br />

receipts, cards and permits<br />

must be attached to the<br />

request form.<br />

Matriculation<br />

What Is Matriculation?<br />

The primary objective of matriculation<br />

is to ensure student success.<br />

It is designed to assist<br />

students in planning, selecting<br />

and achieving their educational<br />

goals. The matriculation process<br />

begins with admission and ends<br />

when the student achieves<br />

his/her educational goal.<br />

The California Community <strong>College</strong>s<br />

Board of Go<strong>ver</strong>nors defines matriculation<br />

as "a process that brings a<br />

college and a student who enrolls<br />

into an agreement for the purpose<br />

of realizing the student's educational<br />

objective through the college's<br />

programs and services."<br />

Components of Matriculation<br />

The matriculation plan consists of<br />

se<strong>ver</strong>al components that colleges<br />

are required to provide. They are:<br />

• Admissions: a procedure for<br />

processing the application<br />

• Orientation: an activity that<br />

informs students of their<br />

responsibilities; the programs<br />

and services offered by the<br />

college; academic expectations<br />

of the students; the college’s<br />

policies and any other<br />

appropriate information<br />

• Assessment: using multiple<br />

measures of place all<br />

non-exempt students into math,<br />

reading and English classes<br />

• Counseling and Advisement:<br />

development of a Student<br />

Educational Plan (SEP) based<br />

on the student's educational<br />

goals<br />

• Student Follow-up: early<br />

intervention such as the "Early<br />

Alert Program," follow-up with<br />

students on probation and with<br />

students who are undecided on<br />

a major/career goal<br />

• Coordination and Training:<br />

faculty and staff training in<br />

matriculation and research on<br />

student outcomes<br />

• Research and Evaluation:<br />

validation of assessment<br />

instruments, analysis of student<br />

outcomes, placement rules, and<br />

district resources in relation to<br />

student needs<br />

• Prerequisites, co requisites and<br />

advisories: developing and<br />

monitoring the course<br />

requirements students need to<br />

progress and achieve their<br />

educational goals<br />

Under the requirements of Title 5,<br />

the following services will be provided<br />

for all students who enroll<br />

for credit courses.<br />

The college's responsibility is to:<br />

• Process applications for<br />

admission<br />

• Assess basic educational skills<br />

and career goals<br />

• Orient students to the college's<br />

programs, services and policies<br />

• Provide quality instruction<br />

• Offer services for educational<br />

support<br />

• Provide follow-up evaluation of<br />

a student's educational<br />

progress<br />

The student's responsibility is to:<br />

• Declare and update educational<br />

goals<br />

• Attend classes<br />

• Complete assignments and<br />

courses<br />

• Meet with a counselor for<br />

advisement/evaluation<br />

• Seek out support services as<br />

needed<br />

• Maintain progress toward<br />

educational goals<br />
