What are the Rules?<br />
Academic Policies and Requirements, Attendance and Enrollment<br />
Attendance Policy<br />
Students are expected to attend<br />
all regularly scheduled class<br />
meetings, including other required<br />
activities such as labs, field<br />
trips, athletic meets, and performances.<br />
It is the instructor's<br />
responsibility to notify the students<br />
of all such required activities<br />
early enough in the semester<br />
to enable students to attend all<br />
meetings.<br />
Absences<br />
It is the student's responsibility to<br />
speak to the instructor regarding<br />
their absence and arrange to<br />
make up the coursework missed.<br />
Instructors may allow make up<br />
work for excused absences for<br />
reasons that include:<br />
• Illness, bereavement, personal<br />
emergency or medical<br />
appointment<br />
• <strong>College</strong>-approved field trips,<br />
performances, or intercollegiate<br />
events<br />
Instructor Drop<br />
An instructor may drop a student<br />
who has missed three class meetings.<br />
This drop can be made up<br />
to the midpoint of a semester or<br />
session. After the midpoint, a student<br />
may not be dropped and the<br />
instructor must assign a grade.<br />
Auditing Courses<br />
Auditing classes is not permitted.<br />
Withdrawal from the <strong>College</strong><br />
Any student who withdraws from<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> at any time after<br />
registration must be formally<br />
withdrawn. Official withdrawal<br />
forms are available from the Attendance<br />
and Records Office.<br />
• Students in good standing will<br />
be honorably withdrawn upon<br />
application.<br />
• Students who stop attending<br />
class without a formal<br />
withdrawal risk receiving failing<br />
grades.<br />
• Students who withdraw from<br />
the college may lose their<br />
"continuous enrollment" status<br />
for graduation purposes and be<br />
subject to any new graduation<br />
requirements when they<br />
re-enroll.<br />
All books and equipment belonging<br />
to <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> must be returned<br />
or paid for before an<br />
honorable withdrawal is granted.<br />
Credits, Grades and<br />
Academic Status<br />
All credit courses listed in the description<br />
of courses section have<br />
been reviewed by the <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
Curriculum Committee and<br />
approved by the Board of<br />
Trustees in accordance with California<br />
Education Code requirements.<br />
Units<br />
A unit is the amount of college<br />
credit earned by satisfactory completion<br />
of a course taken for one<br />
semester. A unit of credit may be<br />
earned by:<br />
• One hour per week of lecture<br />
or recitation<br />
• Three hours in a laboratory or<br />
other exercises not requiring<br />
outside preparation.<br />
Freshman: A student with fewer<br />
than 30 units.<br />
Sophomore: A student with 30<br />
or more units.<br />
Grades<br />
Grade reports will be available online<br />
at https://wingspan.citruscollege.edu<br />
at the close of each<br />
semester and session. Contact the<br />
Admissions and Records Office for<br />
more information.<br />
Academic Record Symbols<br />
and Grade Points<br />
Evaluative Grades<br />
Evaluative grades are assigned<br />
grade point values, which are<br />
used in calculating a student's<br />
GPA. An instructor's determination<br />
of a student's grade is final, if<br />
no evidence of mistakes, fraud,<br />
bad faith or incompetence has<br />
been determined.<br />
