Advanced Jazz Dance I<br />
1 Unit Grade or P/NP<br />
Prerequisite: DANC 270 or Audition.<br />
Designed to instruct students in the advanced<br />
techniques of advanced jazz dance<br />
for the purpose of performance. More<br />
challenging dance combinations and instruction<br />
in individual body control,<br />
strength, stamina, style, and line. This<br />

Special Projects in Dance<br />

Prerequisites: DANC 280 and 282.<br />

An in-depth course utilizing the student's<br />
organizational, creative, and technical<br />
knowledge. The intermediate choreographic<br />
structure will be reviewed and further<br />
development of choreographic<br />
motivation and structure will be introduced.<br />
Selection of dance style may be<br />
chosen by the student with permission of<br />
the instructor. This course may be taken<br />

Prerequisite: Audition.<br />
Dance touring ensemble provides intermediate<br />
to advanced level dance students.<br />
Professional quality performance experience<br />
in a variety of dance styles and settings.<br />
Course employs rehearsal and<br />
performance skill sharpening methods<br />
with the intent of gaining<br />
performance/touring experience. This<br />

Dance Concert Production<br />
3 Units Grade or P/NP<br />
Prerequisite: Audition.<br />
Live dance concert production. Students<br />
will function as dance members in a fully<br />
produced dance production. The course is<br />
also open to all qualified students who<br />
wish to participate in production. This<br />
course may be taken four times. 36 lecture<br />

Dance Academy<br />

Performance ensemble designed to provide<br />
intermediate to advanced level dance<br />
students performance experience in various<br />
dance styles. Enables students to rehearse<br />
and perform a variety of<br />
choreographic techniques for the concert<br />
and commercial stage with the intent of<br />
public performance. Out of class rehearsal<br />
time may be necessary in order to complete<br />
production. This course may be<br />

Dental Assisting<br />
(Health Sciences Department)<br />
The Dental Assisting Program prepares<br />
students for the California State Registered<br />
Dental Assistant Examination. This<br />
program is accredited by the American<br />
Dental Association Commission on Accreditation<br />
and the California State Board of<br />
Dental Examiners. Upon completion, the<br />
graduate is eligible to sit for the California<br />
State Registered Dental Assistant Examination<br />
and the National Certification Examination.<br />

profession of dentistry in terms of go<strong>ver</strong>ning<br />
bodies, professional organizations,<br />
ethics and jurisprudence. 45 lecture hours.<br />

Chairside Assisting<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of, or concurrent<br />

This lecture/lab course provides preclinical<br />
instruction in four-handed dentistry techniques<br />
and prepares the student to assist<br />
a dentist at chair side. Content includes:<br />
the use and care of dental equipment, oral<br />
evacuation, instrument transfer, tray setups,<br />
infection control, preparation of<br />
anesthetic syringe, rubber dam, tofflemire<br />
matrix, cavity preparation, and rotary and<br />
hand instruments. Emphasis is placed on<br />
the responsibilities of a chair side dental<br />
assistant during general restorative procedures.<br />
