Advanced Jazz Dance I<br />

1 Unit Grade or P/NP<br />

Prerequisite: DANC 270 or Audition.<br />

Designed to instruct students in the advanced<br />

techniques of advanced jazz dance<br />

for the purpose of performance. More<br />

challenging dance combinations and instruction<br />

in individual body control,<br />

strength, stamina, style, and line. This<br />

course may be taken four times. 18 lecture<br />

Special Projects in Dance<br />

2 Units Grade or P/NP<br />

Prerequisites: DANC 280 and 282.<br />

Corequisites: DANC 269, 270, 271<br />

and/or 272, depending upon emphasis.<br />

An in-depth course utilizing the student's<br />

organizational, creative, and technical<br />

knowledge. The intermediate choreographic<br />

structure will be reviewed and further<br />

development of choreographic<br />

motivation and structure will be introduced.<br />

Selection of dance style may be<br />

chosen by the student with permission of<br />

the instructor. This course may be taken<br />

<strong>Citrus</strong> Dance Company - Touring Ensemble<br />

3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: Audition.<br />

Dance touring ensemble provides intermediate<br />

to advanced level dance students.<br />

Professional quality performance experience<br />

in a variety of dance styles and settings.<br />

Course employs rehearsal and<br />

performance skill sharpening methods<br />

with the intent of gaining<br />

performance/touring experience. This<br />

course may be taken four times. 18 lecture<br />

Dance Concert Production<br />

3 Units Grade or P/NP<br />

Prerequisite: Audition.<br />

Live dance concert production. Students<br />

will function as dance members in a fully<br />

produced dance production. The course is<br />

also open to all qualified students who<br />

wish to participate in production. This<br />

course may be taken four times. 36 lecture<br />

Dance Academy<br />

3 Units Grade or P/NP<br />

Prerequisite: Two consecutive semesters<br />

of DANC 190.<br />

Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment<br />

required in DANC 269, 270, 271,<br />

and/or 272 depending on emphasis.<br />

Performance ensemble designed to provide<br />

intermediate to advanced level dance<br />

students performance experience in various<br />

dance styles. Enables students to rehearse<br />

and perform a variety of<br />

choreographic techniques for the concert<br />

and commercial stage with the intent of<br />

public performance. Out of class rehearsal<br />

time may be necessary in order to complete<br />

production. This course may be<br />

taken four times. 18 lecture hours, <strong>10</strong>8 lab<br />

Dental Assisting<br />

(Health Sciences Department)<br />

The Dental Assisting Program prepares<br />

students for the California State Registered<br />

Dental Assistant Examination. This<br />

program is accredited by the American<br />

Dental Association Commission on Accreditation<br />

and the California State Board of<br />

Dental Examiners. Upon completion, the<br />

graduate is eligible to sit for the California<br />

State Registered Dental Assistant Examination<br />

and the National Certification Examination.<br />

Must maintain a minimum<br />

grade of “C” in all dental courses.<br />

This course will give the beginning dental<br />

assisting student a foundational knowledge<br />

of basic terminology, structures of<br />

the oral cavity, tooth morphology, tissues<br />

of the teeth, charting, and oral health<br />

care. The student will be oriented to the<br />

profession of dentistry in terms of go<strong>ver</strong>ning<br />

bodies, professional organizations,<br />

ethics and jurisprudence. 45 lecture hours.<br />

Chairside Assisting<br />

3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of, or concurrent<br />

enrollment required in, DENT<br />

<strong>10</strong>0.<br />

This lecture/lab course provides preclinical<br />

instruction in four-handed dentistry techniques<br />

and prepares the student to assist<br />

a dentist at chair side. Content includes:<br />

the use and care of dental equipment, oral<br />

evacuation, instrument transfer, tray setups,<br />

infection control, preparation of<br />

anesthetic syringe, rubber dam, tofflemire<br />

matrix, cavity preparation, and rotary and<br />

hand instruments. Emphasis is placed on<br />

the responsibilities of a chair side dental<br />

assistant during general restorative procedures.<br />

Dental Materials<br />

This course presents the basic physical<br />

and technical aspects of dental materials<br />

utilized in restorative, and laboratory dental<br />

procedures. It is designed to develop<br />

the manipulative skills necessary for the<br />

application of these materials. 36 lecture<br />

hours, 36 lab hours, 18 lab hours<br />

arranged.<br />

Introduction to Dental Assisting<br />

Preclinical Dental Science<br />

The study of the basic structure and function<br />

of the human anatomy as it relates to<br />

the oral cavity. This course provides instruction<br />

on oral histology and embryology,<br />

head and neck anatomy, and oral<br />

pathology with emphasis on their relationship<br />

to and affect on dental treatment. 36<br />

This course is designed to prepare the<br />

dental assistant in the prevention of disease<br />

transmission in the work environment.<br />

Emphasis is placed on knowledge of<br />

the infectious disease process, use of barriers,<br />

sterilization, disinfection, OSHA requirements,<br />

and the concept of uni<strong>ver</strong>sal<br />

precautions. 27 lecture hours.<br />

Preventive Dental Health<br />

Fundamental skills involved in assessing<br />

the dental patient's health, the effect on<br />

dental treatment and the adjustments to<br />

dental treatment needed to protect the<br />
