(6) units elective credit for a<br />
score of 50 or above in a<br />
General Examination of the<br />
<strong>College</strong> Level Examination<br />
Program (CLEP) of the <strong>College</strong><br />
Entrance Examination Board.<br />
Subject credit, rather than<br />
elective credit, may be granted<br />
upon recommendation of the<br />
department.<br />
Maximum Credit by<br />
Examination and Other<br />
Non-Traditional Education<br />
A student may be granted no<br />
more than 30 units through any<br />
combination of credit by examination<br />
(AP, CLEP, IB or local examinations)<br />
and evaluation of military<br />
service or other non-classroom<br />
experiences.<br />
Credit awarded through advanced<br />
placement may be used to satisfy<br />
graduation requirements toward<br />
the associate degree, IGETC and<br />
CSU General Education-Breadth<br />
requirements. Transfer uni<strong>ver</strong>sities<br />
reevaluate AP credit. The<br />
units earned from AP credit will<br />
not apply toward financial aid nor<br />
can they be used to satisfy the<br />
12-unit residence requirement for<br />
graduation.<br />
Credit for the <strong>College</strong> Level<br />
Examination (CLEP) Program<br />
At the time of publication<br />
catalog’s CLEP is under<br />
review at <strong>Citrus</strong>.<br />
A student must be enrolled at<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> to receive course<br />
credit for CLEP examinations.<br />
Credit will not be granted for<br />
courses in which equivalent work<br />
has been completed.<br />
The college will grant units for<br />
scores of 50 or above in the general<br />
examinations of the <strong>College</strong><br />
Level Examination Program<br />
(CLEP) of the <strong>College</strong> Entrance<br />
Examination Board.<br />
Subject credit, rather than elective<br />
credit, maybe granted upon<br />
recommendation of the department.<br />
Students will receive appropriate<br />
credit for CLEP<br />
examinations, for which faculty<br />
have determined equivalent to<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> courses. Students should<br />
be aware of the following:<br />
1. Uni<strong>ver</strong>sity of California does<br />
not accept CLEP Examinations.<br />
2. The California State Uni<strong>ver</strong>sity<br />
is only obligated to accept the<br />
following CLEP Examinations:<br />
• <strong>College</strong> Algebra/Trigonometry<br />
(score 49) applicable toward<br />
CSU GE-Breadth Area B4.<br />
• Calculus with Elementary<br />
Functions (score 51)<br />
applicable toward CSU GE<br />
Breadth Area B4.<br />
• General Chemistry (score 48)<br />
applicable toward CSU-GE<br />
Breadth Area B1.<br />
3. Students should be aware that<br />
acceptance of CLEP at the<br />
various campuses of the CSU<br />
varies. CLEP Examinations get<br />
re-evaluated at transfer<br />
uni<strong>ver</strong>sities.<br />
4. CLEP is evaluated on a credit<br />
basis only; no letter grades are<br />
assigned.<br />
Credit for Courses Taken at<br />
Other <strong>College</strong>s<br />
Academic credits earned at other<br />
regionally accredited institutions<br />
are evaluated at the time of a<br />
student's initial enrollment at <strong>Citrus</strong>.<br />
It is therefore important that<br />
the student request official transcripts<br />
from all colleges previously<br />
attended. These transcripts<br />
should be sent to the Admissions<br />
& Records Office<br />
A student who has taken coursework<br />
at institutions of higher<br />
learning outside of the United<br />
States and who wishes to have<br />
that coursework considered toward<br />
his/her educational goal at<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> must have the academic<br />
credentials evaluated by a<br />
bonafide independent evaluating<br />
agency. A list of recommended<br />
agencies is available in the Admissions<br />
and Records Office.<br />
Credit for DANTES (Defense<br />
Activity for Non-Traditional<br />
Education Support<br />
(DANTES/DSST)<br />
At the time of publication of this<br />
catalog, DANTES/DSST Examinations<br />
are under review.<br />

Credit for International<br />
Baccalaureate<br />
A student must be enrolled at <strong>Citrus</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> to receive course<br />
credit for the International Baccalaureate<br />
diploma or certificates.<br />
At the time of catalog<br />
publication, policy for<br />
acceptance of the<br />
International Baccalaureate<br />
diploma or certificates is<br />
under review.<br />
1. The college will grant 3 to 4<br />
units of elective credit for an<br />
examination score of 5, 6 or 7,<br />
in the subjects co<strong>ver</strong>ed on the<br />
International Baccalaureate<br />
(IB) Higher Level exams.<br />
2. Subject credit rather than<br />
elective credit may be given<br />
upon recommendation of the<br />
department.<br />
3. IB scores cannot be used for<br />
IGETC certification at this time.<br />
4. The International<br />
Baccalaureate is re-evaluated<br />
by the UC, CSU, independent<br />
uni<strong>ver</strong>sities, and other<br />
community colleges.<br />
