Student Services and Student Life<br />
Admissions and Records<br />
The Admissions and Records Office,<br />
located on the first floor of<br />
the Administration Building, is the<br />
gateway to <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Here,<br />
applications are received and<br />
processed; registration is facilitated;<br />
and grades are <strong>ver</strong>ified.<br />
Admissions and Records is the official<br />
custodian of student<br />
records, which include, but are<br />
not limited to, demographic information,<br />
academic history, and<br />
data mandated by the California<br />
Community <strong>College</strong> Chancellor's<br />
Office and other go<strong>ver</strong>nment<br />
agencies.<br />
Athletics: The Fighting Owls<br />
<strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a member of the<br />
Western State Conference and<br />
Southern California Football<br />
Alliance. Men's intercollegiate<br />
sports include basketball, football,<br />
track and field, golf, cross country,<br />
swimming, water polo, soccer and<br />
baseball. Women's intercollegiate<br />
sports include volleyball, soccer,<br />
swimming, golf, cross country,<br />
track and field, softball, basketball,<br />
and water polo.<br />
In accordance with the Equity in<br />
Athletics Disclosure Act of 1994,<br />
for information concerning <strong>Citrus</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> intercollegiate athletic<br />
programs contact the <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
athletic director.<br />
Athletic Eligibility<br />
The California Commission on<br />
Athletics go<strong>ver</strong>ns <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong>'s<br />
athletic eligibility rules. To be eligible,<br />
a student athlete must:<br />
1. Enroll in and pass a<br />
minimum of 12 units during<br />
participation in a sport. Nine<br />
of these units must be in<br />
academic courses.<br />
2. Second-season student<br />
athletes must pass 24<br />
semester units, 18 of which<br />
must be in academic<br />
courses, before participating<br />
in the same sport. A 2.0<br />
GPA (cumulative) is<br />
required.<br />
Student athletes who participated<br />
in intercollegiate athletics at another<br />
community college are required<br />
to:<br />
1. Complete 12 units at <strong>Citrus</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>, nine of which must<br />
be in academic courses,<br />
prior to competing. The<br />
student must also complete<br />
and pass 24 semester units,<br />
18 of which must be in<br />
academic classes.<br />
Or<br />
Complete 36-quarter units,<br />
27 of which must be in<br />
academic classes, before<br />
being eligible for a second<br />
season of participation.<br />
2. Student athletes transferring<br />
from an out-of-state<br />
community college must be<br />
eligible to participate in the<br />
upcoming season if they<br />
were to remain at that<br />
institution.<br />
Student athletes who plan totransfer<br />
to a four-year college<br />
must follow specific transfer eligibility<br />
requirements. An athletic<br />
counselor is available to advise<br />
student athletes to ensure they<br />
follow the athletic academic plan,<br />
established by the Counseling and<br />
Advisement Center.<br />
Bookstore<br />
Students are required to purchase<br />
all books and supplies needed for<br />
their courses. To meet this need,<br />
the Owl Bookshop is owned and<br />
operated by the Associated Students<br />
of <strong>Citrus</strong> <strong>College</strong> as a service<br />
to students, faculty and staff<br />
with the purpose of making available<br />
educational materials and related<br />
items as economically as<br />
possible. Profits from its operation<br />
are used to fund staff activities,<br />
grants, scholarship, equipment<br />
purchases and campus improvements.<br />
The Owl Bookshop accepts MasterCard,<br />
VISA, Disco<strong>ver</strong>, American<br />
Express, cash, ATM or personal<br />
check with valid California Dri<strong>ver</strong>'s<br />
License. Books and supplies may<br />
also be purchased online at<br />
www.owlbookshop.com<br />
The bookshop is located adjacent<br />
to the Campus Center; hours of<br />
operation and textbook information<br />
is listed at<br />
www.owlbookshop.com.<br />
Refund Policy<br />
Books purchased for any current<br />
semester session may be returned<br />
for refund as indicated on<br />
the refund policy received at the<br />
time of purchase. The books must<br />
be in the same condition as when<br />
originally purchased. Do not mar,<br />
damage or write in your books. A<br />
cash register receipt, proof of<br />
registration and student ID are<br />
required for all refunds.<br />
Students are encouraged to sell<br />
their books back during finals<br />
through “BUY BACK.” A used<br />
book company purchases books<br />
needed by the bookstore at a percentage<br />
of the new book price.<br />
