1. Sense of belonging to the anglophone school (10 minutes)<br />

What do you think of your son’s/daughter’s school? What is it that allows him/her to feel (or<br />

not to feel) a part of the school?<br />

If you wanted to persua<strong>de</strong> a friend to register his/her child at the school, what would you say to<br />

him/her?<br />

Does your child feel at ease, or <strong>un</strong>easy, in his/her c<strong>la</strong>ss this year? Last year? Could you give an<br />

example?<br />

What were his/her personal successes at school? Tell me about the most important<br />

achievement. Would you have an example for this year and <strong>la</strong>st year?<br />

2. Social belonging in the school setting (20 minutes)<br />

Tell me about the people with whom your son/daughter seems to be close at school.<br />

Has your son/daughter ever spoken about one or more teachers to whom he/she felt<br />

particu<strong>la</strong>rly close? Would you have an example?<br />

Did your child ever tell you that a teacher praised him/her?<br />

Did your child ever tell you that a teacher ma<strong>de</strong> him/her feel <strong>un</strong>happy?<br />

Has your son/daughter ever spoken to you about people he/she thinks are cool? If yes, what<br />

were their characteristics?<br />

Do you know the stu<strong>de</strong>nts with whom your son/daughter associates at school? Do you know<br />

what they do together?<br />

Does your son/daughter have a best friend in whom he/she confi<strong>de</strong>s? If yes, does this friend<br />

come to your home?<br />

It’s consi<strong>de</strong>red part of growing up to have conflicts at high school. Are you aware of one, or<br />

more, conflicts that your son/daughter might have had with a friend?<br />

How would you <strong>de</strong>scribe your child? (comparison with Rosenberg)<br />

Does your child have a brother or sister attending the same school, whether yo<strong>un</strong>ger or ol<strong>de</strong>r?<br />

If so, how does he/she feel about that?<br />

3. Re<strong>la</strong>tions with parents (5 minutes)<br />

Are you aware of all that goes on at the school? What means do you have for keeping<br />

informed? What kind of <strong>de</strong>tails are most important to you?<br />

How do you see your role as a parent when your son/daughter has a project to do for school?<br />

Can you give an example?<br />

When your son/daughter goes out with friends, at what time does he/she come home?<br />

Do you know any parents who discovered that their son/daughter had been drinking alcohol or<br />

taking drugs? How did they react? How would you have reacted?
