The conference will discuss from a theoretical perspective, the important
role played by education, culture and art in order to promote national
identity among different nations. It also draws upon the experiences of
nations who utilized education, culture and art in order to achieve this.
The conference will similarly present working papers from Palestine
which deal with the Palestinian experience in the West Bank and the
Gaza Strip, where Palestinian educators have fought and struggled
against the Israeli occupation in defense of their national identity for
over four decades. Success stories of educators in counteracting Israeli
efforts to dissolve the Palestinian national identity and promote national
belonging for students and young Palestinians in general will be reflected
during the conference.

Pierre Beaudet, Dr. Eyad Barghouty , Mr . Fareed Murra
The conference will revisit global educational theories and
its intellectual and theoretical background through several
working papers. The conference will also reflect on educational
experiences that stem from these theories, and which are
related to popular and traditional education. Palestinian
educators will present the Palestinian experience in popular
education during the first intifada, drawing upon comparisons
between traditional and popular education, in addition to the
role of this experience in the Palestinian national struggle and
the struggle against the Israeli occupation.

يتناول املؤمتر من الزاوية النظرية من خ الل أوراق العمل املقدمة أهمية
الدور الذي تضطلع به التربية بأبعادها اخملتلفة إلى جانب الثقافة عموما
والفن بأنواعه في تعزيز الهوية الوطنية لدى شعوب العالم اخملتلفة.‏
كما يتوقف عند جتارب عديدة خاضتها بعض الشعوب في توظيف
التربية و الثقافة و الفن لتحقيق ذلك.‏
من جهة أخرى,‏ يعرض في املؤمتر أوراق عمل فلسطينية تتناول التجربة
الفلسطينية خالل أكثر من أربعة عقود في الضفة الغربية و قطاع
غزة,‏ حيث خاض التربويون الفلسطينيون صراعا مع االحتالل اإلسرائيلي
دفاعا عن هويتهم الوطنية و كيف جنحوا في عدة جتارب في التصدي
للمشروع اإلسرائيلي الهادف لتذويب هويتهم الوطنية و متكنوا من
تعزيز االنتماء الوطني للطلبة و الشباب الفلسطيني بشكل عام

يتخذ املؤمتر طابعا نظريا من خالل توقفه عند النظريات التربوية العاملية
و خلفياتها الفكرية و األيدلوجية,‏ حيث تعرض في املؤمتر عدد من األوراق
تتناول هذه النظريات,‏ كما تناقش في املؤمتر أوراق عمل تعكس جتارب
تربوية معينة منطلقة من هذه النظريات,‏ منها ما يتصل بالتعليم
الشعبي و التعليم التقليدي.‏ و يعرض بعض التربويني الفلسطينيني
التجربة الفلسطينية في التعليم الشعبي خالل االنتفاضة الكبرى,‏
و سوف تقدم مقارنات بني أمناط التعليم التقليدي و الشعبي و دور
هذه التجربة في النضال الوطني الفلسطيني,‏ و في مقومة االحتالل
اإلسرائيلي

This conference will present findings on the condition of
education, employment and budget allocations for young
people in the West Bank as well as examining the living
conditions of young people in Gaza. Key themes include the
current state of affairs, challenges and ways of dealing and
