Alle porte del centro storico di Castelfidardo
è ubicato il Parco delle Rimembranze,
un luogo ideale dove portare
i bambini a giocare e rilassarsi: viali di
pini, fiori profumati, panchine ombreggiate,
saranno la cornice ideale anche
per leggere un buon libro e rigenerarsi.
È uno dei principali punti di ritrovo
della comunità cittadina. Vi si accede
dalla Cancellata degli Allori, realizzata in
ferro lavorato, che raffigura l’accavallarsi
delle onde del mare. Al suo interno
è conservato il Monumento Nazionale
delle Marche, eretto in ricordo della
storica battaglia risorgimentale del 18
settembre 1860.

HISTORY AND CULTURE
Castelfidardo è ricca di storia: in questi
luoghi si è infatti svolta la battaglia del
18 settembre 1860, tappa fondamentale
del Risorgimento e del processo unitario,
che ha visto confrontarsi l’esercito
piemontese e quello pontificio. Ai
margini meridionali della Selva, laddove
la battaglia fu cruenta, è collocato
un Sacrario-Ossario, dove riposano le
spoglie dei soldati dell’uno e dell’altro
schieramento.
Castelfidardo is full of history: the battle that
took place here in 18 September 1860 was
the turning point for the Risorgimento and
Italy’s unification process, where the Piedmontese
faced the Pontifical army. At the
southern edge of the Selva, where the battle
was crushed, there is a Shrine-Ossuary
where the remains of the soldiers from both
sides can be found.

Castelfidardo è uno dei principali centri
mondiali della fabbricazione della fisarmonica.
A questo antico e attuale mestiere,
è dedicato il Museo Internazionale
della Fisarmonica che, ubicato nel
piano seminterrato del Palazzo Comunale,
rappresenta un efficiente mezzo
didattico per seguire le fasi evolutive
dello strumento musicale, la storia e
tutti i personaggi che ne custodiscono
l’eccellente qualità.
La città di Castelfidardo rende omaggio
ogni anno alla musica attraverso
varie iniziative: Concerti del Consiglio,
Festa della musica, Pif, Notte della Musica,
Jazz Accordion Festival, Wow Folk
Festival. Tuttora sono attive sul territorio
una trentina di aziende produttrici
della fisarmonica, che conservano elevatissimi
standard di qualità.
Castelfidardo is one of the world’s leading
centres of accordion production. The International
Accordion Museum is dedicated to
this ancient and contemporary craft, and is
located in the basement of the Town Hall. It
is an effective way to teach visitors about
the evolutionary phases of the musical instrument,
its history and all the figures that
see to its excellent quality.
The city of Castelfidardo pays tribute to
music every year through various initiatives:
Council Concerts, the Music Festival, the International
Accordion Award, the Night of
Music, Jazz Accordion Festival and Wow Folk
Festival. There are still some thirty or so accordion
producers in the region that maintain
high quality standards.
Considerato il precursore dell’industria
della fisarmonica, all’età di 18 anni, con
qualche arnese di fortuna, costruisce il
primo organetto. Nella stalla della casa
colonica in cui viveva la famiglia Soprani,
apre un laboratorio vendendo le prime
armoniche nelle fiere e nei mercati dei
paesi vicini, specie a Loreto, luogo d’incontro
di pellegrini e commercianti. Lo
strumento viene accolto con vivo interesse,
tanto che più avanti Paolo fonderà
una fabbrica che all’epoca contava
centinaia di occupati. Ancora oggi le fisarmoniche
sono costruite come circa
150 anni fa con grande abilità manuale.
Considered the forerunner of the accordion
industry, he made the first ‘organetto’
at the age of 18 with a bit of luck. In the
stable of the farmhouse where the Soprani
family lived, he opened a workshop selling
the first harmonicas at fairs and markets in
nearby towns, especially Loreto, a meeting
place for pilgrims and traders. The instrument
was welcomed with great interest, so
much so that Paolo later founded a factory
with hundreds of employees. Accordions are
still made today as they were 150 years ago,
with great manual skill.
