SECONDO UN’ANTICA LEGGENDA,

According to an old legend, the Piceno folks reached this land
from the Balkan Peninsula guided by a woodpecker,
which was considered an holy animal by them.

next sections run alongside the Potenza River,
crossing 5 towns up to Macerata and
offering a suggestive hilly panorama and the
opportunity to admire the archaeological
areas of Potentia and Helvia Recina.

HANDICRAFTS
ll mercatino dell’artigianato artistico offre
al turista la piacevole opportunità di
riscoprire le antiche tradizioni artigiane
e culinarie. Ubicato nella centralissima
via Trieste, al lato della Piazza Douhet,
il mercatino si svolge tutti i lunedì dei
mesi di luglio e agosto. Gli espositori
propongono i loro preziosi prodotti,
dall’arte del ferro battuto, del vetro, del
cuoio e della terracotta alla creatività di
tessuti fino alla lavorazione di profumi.
Gli artigiani del “gusto” espongono salumi,
vini, dolci, ghiotte confetture e miele
e suoi derivati.
The artisan market offers tourists the wonderful
chance to rediscover ancient crafts
and culinary traditions. Located on the central
Via Trieste at the foot of Douhet Square,
the market takes place on Mondays in July
and August. Exhibitors offer their precious
products ranging from the art of wrought
iron, glass, leather and terracotta to the creativity
of fabrics all the way up to perfume.
“Flavour” craftsmen offer salami, wines, sweets,
delicious jams and honey and its derivatives.

Una passeggiata nel centro di Potenza
Picena deve per forza terminare al Pin-
cio. Il “Belvedere Donatori di Sangue”,
apre a nord a un fantastico panorama,
dal mare al Conero e ai monti azzurri, è
considerato uno dei più suggestivi belvedere
delle Marche.
A walk in the center of Potenza Picena can
only end at Il Pincio. The “Belvedere Donatori
di Sangue” opens to the north with a
fantastic panorama, from the sea to Conero
and the blue mountains, and is considered
one of the most impressive viewpoints in the
Marche region.

PLEASANT EVENINGS
Porto Potenza offre molte piacevoli serate:
le tradizionali Sagre del Brodetto, a
Luglio e delle Vongole, ad Agosto, spettacoli
musicali e teatrali, l’animato lungomare
e i suoi ristoranti, le passeggiate,
i giochi in spiaggia e, infine, una pausa
romantica sul belvedere Baden Powell.
Porto Potenza offers many pleasant evenings:
the traditional Brodetto Festivals in
July and Clam Festivals in August, musical
and theatrical performances, the animated
waterfront promenade and its restaurants,
walks, games on the beach and, finally, a romantic
break at the Baden Powell Viewpoint.

TRADITIONS
Nella seconda metà di settembre Potenza
Picena dà il via ai festeggiamenti del
Grappolo d’Oro, che richiamano turisti
da tutto il centro Italia e non solo. La città
si colora di bandiere e stendardi e le
vie diventano palcoscenico di spettacoli
live di musica e di intrattenimento. Una
settimana da passare all’insegna dei sapori
della tradizione e dei vini delle sue
colline, che si possono degustare nei
numerosi stands presenti in tutto il paese.
L’uva e la vendemmia sono i protagonisti
indiscussi di tutti i festeggiamenti,
nell’intento di dare massima visibilità
e importanza al ruolo che da sempre
il vino riveste per l’economia locale. La
domenica il festival si conclude con la
tradizionale sfilata di carri allegorici.

In the second half of September, Potenza Picena
starts off the celebrations of the Grappolo
d’Oro, attracting tourists from all over
Italy and beyond. The city is coloured with
flags and banners and the streets become
the stage for live music and entertainment.
A week to pass while immersed in the flavours
of tradition and the wines of its hills,
which can be tasted at the numerous stands
throughout the town. Grapes and the grape
harvest are the undisputed protagonists of
all the celebrations, with the aim of giving
maximum visibility and importance to the
role that wine has always had for the local
economy. On Sunday the festival concludes
with the traditional parade of allegorical wagons.
