from the Second World
War and a Memorial of the Battle
of Filottrano. The museum is
located in Accorretti Palace.
IL BIROCCIO MARCHIGIANO
Il museo si trova nel Palazzo
Beltrami. Nato come carro
agricolo, assume negli anni
una valenza popolare che si
traduce in vistose decorazioni
policrome differenziate
per aree geografiche.
THE CART OF THE
MARCHE REGION
The museum is located in Palazzo
Beltrami. Originally a farm wagon,
it has become popular tradition
over the years, resulting
in vivid, multi-coloured carts
with decorations that are differentiated
by geographical area.

durante i suoi viaggi:

Chiesa di
S. Francesco
CHURCH OF ST. FRANCESCO
La Chiesa di S. Francesco
(foto 6) fu edificata all’inizio
del XVI sec. sull’area della
precedente Chiesa di S. Rocco.
Il tempio, ad unica navata,
fu rimaneggiato nel XVIII
sec. con stucchi e cornici
secondo lo stile dell’epoca.
Notevoli sono le opere d’arte
conservate come la pala
d’altare raffigurante la Resurrezione
di Lazzaro, del fanese
Pompeo Morganti (1543),
e la Madonna del Rosario di
Ercole Ramazzani (1571).
St. Francesco Church (photo 6)
was built at the beginning of the
16th century on an area where
the Church of Saint Rocco once
stood. The temple with a single
nave was restored in the 18th
century with stuccoes and frames
according to the style of
the era. There are remarkable
works of art preserved inside,
including an altarpiece depicting
the resurrection of Lazzaro
by the Fano artist Pompeo Morganti
(1543), and the Madonna
of the Rosary by Ercole Ramazzani
(1571).
Chiesa di S. Maria
ST. MARY CHURCH
Si trova a Tornazzano, meta
di pellegrinaggi e conserva
un’immagine miracolosa della
“Madonna con Gesù Bambino”
(XV sec.).
Located in Tornazzano, this
church is a destination for pilgrimages
and retains a miraculous
image of “Our Lady with Baby
Jesus” (15th century).
Villa Centofinestre
VILLA CENTOFINESTRE
Villa settecentesca (foto 2-3-
4) costruita come residenza
di campagna dei Marchesi
Accoretti. Centofinestre
venne poi ampliata dall’architetto
Pietro Ghinelli, noto
esponente della corrente
vanvitelliana nelle Marche.
Le decorazioni delle pareti
richiamano motivi neoclassici
di scene pompeiane, sull’eco
dei recenti scavi di Pompei.
La villa, circondata da un
grandioso parco con piscine,
giochi meccanici, sale da tè,
porticati, sale da gioco, serre
e boschetti, ora è adibita a
cerimonie ed eventi.
Eighteenth-century villa (photos
2-3-4) built as the country residence
of the Marquis Accoretti.
Centofinestre was then enlarged
by the architect Pietro Ghinelli,
a well-known exponent of
Vanvitelli in the Marche region.
The wall decorations recall Neoclassical
motifs with Pompeian
scenes, following the echo of
the then-recent Pompeii excavations.
The villa is surrounded
by a large park with swimming
pools, mechanical games, tea
rooms, porticoes, game rooms,
greenhouses and groves, and is
now used for ceremonies and
events.
Villa Montepolesco
VILLA MONTEPOLESCO
Si trova lungo la strada che
da Filottrano conduce alla
frazione Casenuove di Osimo.
L’edificio, sicuramente
uno dei più belli dell’Italia
Centrale, dopo esser stato
per due secoli proprietà
della famiglia Gentiloni, fu
acquistato da Giuseppe Lavini
(1644), a cui si devono
i primi lavori di ampliamento
e la cappella. Nel parco circostante
sono presenti delle
finte rovine (tipiche del gu-

sto ottocentesco), dei rondò
e dei belvedere che una
volta si aprivano su vedute
scenografiche oggi alterate
dallo sviluppo della vegetazione.
Located along the road from
Filottrano that leads to the Casenuove
hamlet of Osimo. The
building is surely one of the
most beautiful in Central Italy:
after having been owned by the
Gentiloni family for two centuries,
it was bought by Giuseppe
Lavinj (1644), who implemented
the first expansion works and
the chapel. The surrounding
park has fake ruins (typical of
nineteenth-century tastes), rondos
and viewpoints which once
opened onto scenic views which
have since been altered by the
growth of the vegetation.
