PARK AND NATURE
Nelle acque della Riviera del Conero,
oltre alle tartarughe di mare Caretta
Caretta, non è così difficile vedere
anche delfini, non molto lontani dalla
costa.
Besides seeing Caretta Caretta sea turtles
in the waters of Riviera del Conero, it’s not
too rare to see dolphins either, who never
wander too far from the coast.
In centro, le tipiche casette colorate
del paese sembrano emergere dal verde
del Parco del Conero, che invade
la città fino a ricoprire la bianca roccia
della Spiaggiola. Anche a Numana
Bassa il verde non manca, avventuratevi
nei sentieri che salgono a ridosso
della spiaggia per scorgere le spiagge
dall’alto.
In the historic centre, the typical coloured
houses of the village seem to emerge from
the vegetation of Conero Park, which invades
the city all the way to covering the white
rock of Spiaggiola beach. Vegetation isn’t
lacking at Numana Bassa either, where you
can venture on the trails that go behind the
beach and offer a view of all the beaches
from above.

Every shopping taste can be satisfied on Via
Roma and on Numana’s promenade. Objects
for the sea/swimming and small handicraft
and design shops are also hidden in the alleys
of the historic centre.

PANORAMA
Molti sono gli scorci panoramici che si
scoprono dal centro del paese. Una romantica
passeggiata tra il blu e il verde
che parte dal parco di Piazza Nuova nel
centro del paese, prosegue poi lungo
Via Roma fino a raggiungere la Torre
della città e il balcone panoramico.
The historic centre offers numerous panoramic
viewpoints. Enjoy a romantic walk
between the blue of the sea and the green
of the hills that starts from Piazza Nuova Park
in the centre of the village, then continues
along Via Roma until you reach the city’s
Tower and its panoramic balcony.

Tradizioni
TRADITIONS
Molte sono le tradizioni legate al miracoloso
crocifisso dell’epoca bizantina.
Si narra che venne eseguito da San Nicodemo
e da Giuseppe d’Arimatea che
deposero il corpo di Cristo. Nel tempo
venne custodito nell’abitazione di un
ebreo, ma fu presto scoperto, danneggiato
e coperto di ingiurie.
La leggenda racconta che il petto venne
forato con ripetuti colpi, fino a far
uscire del sangue umano. Lo stesso
sangue venne raccolto e usato in sinagoga
per guarire infermi. Carlo Magno,
Imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero,
venuto a conoscenza di questi prodigi,
decise di donarlo a Papa Leone III,
ma durante il trasporto una tempesta
obbligò l’Imperatore a lasciare la reliquia
sulle coste di Numana. Il Crocifisso
inizialmente venne installato in
una cappella ornata di marmi preziosi,
all’interno di un Santuario costruito tra
il 1561 e 1566. Nel 1967 la chiesa venne
ricostruita completamente perché del
tutto inagibile.
There are many traditions related to the miraculous
crucifix of the Byzantine era. It is
said that it was made by Saint Nicodemus
and Joseph of Arimathea, who laid down
the body of Christ. At one point it was kept
in a Jewish home, but was soon discovered
and severely damaged. The legend says that
its chest was pierced with repeated blows,
to the point of releasing human blood. The
same blood was collected and used in a synagogue
to heal the sick. Charlemagne, the
Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, learned
of these prodigies and decided to donate
it to Pope Leo III, but while it was being
transported a storm forced the Emperor to
leave the relic on the shores of Numana. The
Crucifix was initially installed in an ornate
chapel of precious marble, inside a sanctuary
built between 1561 and 1566. In 1967,
the church was completely rebuilt because
it was totally impracticable.
