“SE VAI A LURETO E NUN VAI A SCIROLO VEDI LA
MADRE MA NUN VEDI EL FIOLO”
Did you know that... LORETO. An old saying goes: “If you go to
Loreto and you don’t go to Sirolo, you see the mother
but you don’t see the son”.

Da sempre nella piazza antistante la
Basilica, artisti di strada riproducono
famosi quadri religiosi utilizzando semplici
gessetti colorati. Ammira l’antica

Artigianato
HANDICRAFTS
Loreto esporta articoli religiosi in ogni
angolo del mondo. Rinomata è la produzione
di oggetti e quadri religiosi in
argento e in legno.
Loreto exports religious articles to every
corner of the world. It is renowned for its
production of religious objects and paintings
in silver and wood.
Un mestiere artigianale in via d’estinzione
quello delle “Coronare“. Abili
donne che ancora oggi fabbricano interamente
a mano le corone del rosa-
rio. Una tradizione che sembra ancora
perdurare a Loreto.
One such craft which risks being lost is that
of the “Coronare”. These are able women
who make rosary beads entirely by hand. A
tradition that seems to live on and persist
in Loreto.

Tradizioni
TRADITIONS
Ogni
anno il 9 Dicembre tra le campagne di
Loreto si accendono i tradizionali “Fugarò”
della Madonna, fuochi e falò per
festeggiare la venuta della Santa Casa.
According to the legend, the house of the
Virgin Mary of Nazareth was carried by Angels
on the night between 9 and 10 December
1294, and was left on a hill covered with
laurel to escape the wars of Palestine. Every
year on 9 December, Loreto’s countrysides
light up with the traditional “Fugarò” of the
Madonna, which are fires and bonfires to
celebrate the arrival of the Holy House.
Ricerche più recenti hanno verificato
l’originalità dei mattoni della Santa Casa
di Nazaret e si è confermata l’ipotesi
storica che la casa venne trasportata
dalla famiglia Angeli a bordo di una
nave fino al colle lauretano.
Recent research has verified the originality
of the bricks of the Holy House of Nazareth,
and the historical hypothesis is that the house
was carried by the Angeli family on board
a ship to the hills of Loreto.

A corredo dell’opera idraulica furono
edificate numerose fontane, fontana
