ELITE DAMS
Dam’s of distinction
The best cows in the Simmentaler herdbook are highlighted to the
industry by means of 1, 2 or 3 stars on certificates, sale catalogues
and our web page. Awards are based on reproduction (Simdex), 200
day EBV and milk EBV which change annually according to the performance
of the progeny. Calving requirements are four calvings (*star), five calvings
(**stars) and more than five calvings (***stars).

Minimum criteria for 2012 Elite Dams
• Passed inspection for structural correctness.
• Must appear as ancestor in the published
pedigree of active animal viz. a life animal in
possession of an active member.
• Must be a three star cow (6 calvings). Over
and above the three star requirements the
cow must also meet the following:
