Novas conquistas se seguiram, os móveis passaram a ser certificados pelo Conselho de
Manejo Florestal, ‘Forest Stewardship Council’ – FSC.
O FSC é uma organização não governamental com atuação internacional, cuja principal
missão é o desenvolvimento de Princípios e Critérios universais para promover o manejo
responsável das florestas no mundo. Na América Latina, a Duratex foi a primeira empresa
a ter as suas plantações certificadas por essa organização, tornando-se uma das pioneiras
no fornecimento de painéis certificados de madeira reconstituída para móveis e a construção
civil. Os Princípios do FSC caracterizam o bom manejo florestal, que é aquele conduzido
de modo economicamente viável, ambientalmente adequado e socialmente justo.
A tecnologia dos produtos feitos a partir do eucalipto foi dominada, garante Zenid, mas ele
insiste que trabalhar com eucalipto é para profissionais, é preciso conhecer a madeira e
dominar a técnica necessária. Isso feito, ele garante um maravilhoso futuro para o eucalipto
e uma inesgotável fonte de renda para o País.

The FSC is an international non-governmental organization whose mission is to
develop universal Principles and Criteria to promote responsible forest management
the world over. In Latin America, Duratex was the first company to have its plantations

reconstituted wood panels for furniture and for civil construction. The FSC’s Principles
characterize good forest management as one that is carried out in an economically
viable, environmentally appropriate, and socially equitable manner.
The technology of the products made out of eucalypt has been dominated, Zenid guarantees,
but he insists that working with eucalypt is for professionals. One must know the
wood and dominate the necessary technique. From then on, it guarantees a wonderful
future for eucalypt and a never-ending source of income for Brazil.
