successful lipid-lowering therapy, low-density lipoprotein levels decreased significantly (33%), whereas triglyceride level decreased slightly (7%). The results of this study reveal that a low dose of 10 mg simvastatin daily is effective, safe and well tolerated in elderly patients with concurrent antihypertensive drug therapy. 2. A follow-up schedule initially, approximately 12 weeks after starting therapy, and annually is required in order to evaluate ALT/AST ratio, CPK level and muscle symptoms in elderly cardiovascular patients..
