Sabahın erken saatlerinde Çankırı’ya doğru
yola çıkıyoruz. Ankara trafiği her zamanki
gibi kalabalık. Akyurt’u geçtikten sonra yol
tenhalaşmaya başlıyor. Alçak tepeler ve ufuk
çizgisiyle birleşen uçsuz bucaksız düzlüklerden
geçiyoruz.
35 sene sonra bu kenti tekrar göreceğim için,
heyecanlıyım. Yol boyu, ilk gençlik yıllarımdan
kalan Çankırı’yı gözümün önüne getirmeye
çalışıyorum. Eski bir tren istasyonu, hemen yanı
başında büyükçe bir tahıl silosu ve büfe… Bir de
taş bedesten…
Yol sessizce akıp gidiyor. Sağlı sollu yol
üstü tezgahları kurmuş köylüler. Tezgahlar,
sarı kavunlar ve balkabağı ile dolu. Kuzey
Anadolu’nun bu küçük ilinin ekonomisi tarıma
We set off to Çankırı early in the morning.
Ankara’s traffic is crowded as usual. After
crossing Akyurt, the road becomes to be lesscrowded.
We are going through low hills and vast
plains combining with horizon. I’m very excited
since I will see this city after 35 years. Along
the road, I’m trying to revive aÇnkırı in front of
my eyes, which was left in my teenage yearss.
An old train station, just beside it a large grain
silo and a buffet… and also the covered bazaar
(bedesten) made up of stone…
The road flows quietly. The peasants have set up
their stalls both on the left and the right side of
the road. The stalls are full of yellow melons and
pumpkins. The economy of this little city, located
in Northern Anatolia, depends on agriculture.
Melon is among the most known products of the
region…
